Sidell Corley, another DE for Florida has notified the Gators that he plans to de-commit, and will not attend the University of Florida. This has been rumored for some time now, and may have been part of the reason that the snake oil salesman rode so hard for JT. However, it would serve Urban right if Corley decided to de-commit only after JT's commit to the Gators. In any case, that is the way I am going to look at, because having Urban lose one has started my weekend off on the right foot.

This just makes one more place for Peters to end up, along with LSU.

GG, I know it has been a tough week, but be happy at least that Urban gets a little retribution. Sure, it would be better if it was a pickup for ND, but after this week something like this should be celebrated.

It also appears that Alabama, with that other upstanding gentleman, Mr. Saban, will be Corley's chosen school, that is not yet confirmed. If it is then Saban pulled 2 heists in one day, Luther Davis from LSU earlier in the day, and now Corley. A recruiting war next year between Saban and Meyer would be great news for ND, they will be so busy poaching each other's recruits that they won't have time to go after ours.

Good info. Sounds like Corley will stay in the SEC. Just further proof that they are the conference to be in when it comes to premier D-linemen. The only question now is which
SEC team will run the gauntlet (or survive w/ only one loss) & get a chance to knock off the pre-season favorite, USC, in the BCS national championship game.

I'm actually looking forward to Charlie battling Urban again. Really Charlie has the upper hand.....Sammy Young, keeping McNeil last year, and Armando.

Uh Oh!! Urban has another potential problem, Torrey Davis

Uh Oh!! Urban has another potential problem, Torrey Davis

Torrey Davis is one of the most highly rated recruits in the country. Both Rivals and Scout have him as the #2 DT in the nation, and he is on all of the Top 100 lists with an average rank of #29 in the nation. He is Meyer’s #1 rated recruit overall. Well, he has one little problem, he may not qualify academically, and may have to go the JUCO route.

Here is the headline from the Scouts, Inc. Briefing Room:

“Torrey Davis may not qualify

According to the Gainesville Sun, the Florida verbal commit "is facing an uphill battle to qualify academically and may be headed the junior college route."

It is starting to become abundantly clear why Urban went after a certain ex-ND recruit named :censored:. Good night Urban, hope you don't sleep well.

The latest news on Corley's de-commit to Florida is that it was because of Meyer's continued pursuit of Defensive Ends like that ex-ND DE recruit. Way to go Urban. Corley's father confirmed this in an interview with a local paper, and the speculation is still that Corley will end up in Alabama.

Here is the headline from the Scouts, Inc. Briefing Room:

"Is Corley Jr. next for Alabama?
Sidell Corley Jr. decommitted from Florida on Friday. His father informed the Press-Register that they were concerned the Gators were still recruiting a number of defensive ends. The ESPN 150 prospect is now considering Alabama, LSU, Tennessee, and Oklahoma."

Florida took 7 DL this year and we needed that number and we got 2 THAT'S SAD. What happened to Martin, Wilson, Austin, Blackwell, Barksdale, Trattou, Griffen. They all said the Heck with ND were going to USC, LSU, UF, Tennessee. Thats said. Last year we had to have 6 OL last year and we got them. But on the Defensive line we needed 7 or 8 and we got 2. What's happened. Charlie doesn't see it does he. Looks like Clausen and Co will have to average a arena football score just to compete. Or do what the Colts did long 15 play drives. But with the power we have on O we can strike like that. Charlie has to get Defense. Corwin needs to tell him look I need weapons as well.

Look this isn't the NFL draft where the players don't have a choice in where they go, its called recruitng for a reason. The guys we missed out on didn't see themselves playing for ND, ok thats their decision...but to think that Weis isn't going after these guys is a joke. Plus look at where they went, Donald a TN native, Blackwell from LA if I remember correctly, Griffen is a warm state guy and went to USC, and JT switch because of the coaching/scheme change thats life thats how the business works. Its really hard to get kids out of their home states sometimes. Look at USC, they could literally only recruit Cali and still pull in top 5 classes every year, same with the Florida schools. Its not that Weis wasn't pushing for these guys, like I said before we were listed with all of them pretty late in the game, when was the last time we saw that? Give the man a break.

As posted earlier in this thread, Torrey Davis, the Florida DT recruit may not qualify academically. I am assuming that you must qualify academically by National signing day in order to execute an LOI. Can anyone confirm that I am correct in this assumption? My second question is, if you do not qualify by National signing day, does that preclude you from qualifying later in this semester, and still becoming available for the fall.

BTW, if anyone is interested, Sidell Corley's father is now saying that Sidell is primarily interested in LSU, not Alabama.

I dont get the harshness towards other coaches and recruits on here, its kind of childish to call everyone a snake oil salesman that isnt a ND coach and hope ill will for 17 year olds that had ND as a possibility but chose somebody else.

Its pretty disingenous to bash everybody that decommits from ND but when someone decommits anwhere else the first question is "ohh ohh do you think we have a shot!!!!"

All coaches have the same job - try to get the best players out there to come to your school. All is fair game intil that letter signing day.

I was as pissed as anywone when JT jumped ship, but I was also very happy when Gary Grey decommitted and chose ND.

Are you the same irishfan81 that got banned from another nd site, For being a troll.

"It appears that now "former" poster Irishfan81 had a e-mail address identifying himself as a Purdue fan, per what I was told by [name retracted].

One of his latest contributions was more of his repetitious "doom and gloom" predictions verbatim re the DT position with his hysterical aggravating quotes presented in CAPS, I guess for more effect. His last quote that I saw was a reference to Weis not recruiting top talent at the Def back position because Walls and McNeil would start. He would have us believe that Coach Weis is not interested in recruiting top talent, regardless of who is starting, which is an absurdity!

Clearly, this poster was a lurker presenting himself as something that he wasn't, i.e., a Notre Dame fan. There is a lesson to be learned here.

Beware of those who excessively dwell on the negative for no good reason."

Dunlap may be having second thoughts about his Florida committment.

From the Scouts, Inc. Briefing Room:

"Dunlap on his commitment status to the Gators
The ESPN 150 defensive end's father told The State, "As of right now, he says his mind is 100 percent made up."

However, his father added that South Carolina is "doing it the right way" and giving him space. "He was 95 percent sure on South Carolina before his visit to Florida. He had actually committed to Carolina. His desire is still to be at South Carolina, but he feels the best playing opportunity is at Florida."

The State also reported that Nick Saban and Alabama "would like to get a shot at" Dunlap."

Florida picked up another DL recruit today when DT John Brown chose the Gators over Alabama. However, they may be about to lose one as well as DE Jerry Howard has gone "soft verbal" on Urban and may be headed to FSU or Auburn. Can anyone see that little kid from New Jersey amongst all those trees?

I am sure Urban has many reassuring reasons for him to stay:
