Looks like Trump might do the job Dem mayors refuse to do. He’ll probably save a lot of lives to be honest

Some of you need to go see this Dr. He's a Intercranial rectal removal specialist.

This Is what happens after seeing that great Dr.

One of you needs to see a psychiatrist. They’re a ‘bring you back to reality’ specialist.

Here's the thing... DC is 45% black. Yet the vast majority of protestors you see on the street around here are white women. And most of them aren't from DC. Local news after the Stanford game interviewing people and saying where they're from... bunch of rich white people from Maryland lmao

Can't paint everyone with a broad brush, but more people than I was expecting *who actually live in DC* have actually been supportive on him cracking down on crime.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) hit an all-time closing high of 45,631.74 points on Friday, August 22, 2025, after surpassing previous record highs in December 2024 and July 2025. Canada announced that it's dropping many of its retaliatory tariffs. All the tariff experts from a few months ago who were telling us Trump would collapse the US economy are strangely quiet. This is why their opinions and analysis are about as worthless as their election predictions and analysis from a year ago were. I remember Bua having a meltdown about me saying "Let's let it all play out and see what happens" instead of running around crying about the sky falling like our leftist friends did. Well, now we see how it's played out.

I don’t understand why people protest reducing crime. Are you that fixated on Dem vs. GOP that you prefer crime over safer streets?

That one puzzles me too. Seems like an issue both sides could and should get behind fully, but no. It seems they're more concerned with Trump getting credit for a W and that hurting their own party's chances than they are with reducing a problem that affects everyone.

I can't speak for everyone but my issue is the the use of of the military and if he goes thru and deploys troops into other cities. I don't view federalization and militarization of local police as a good trade off for getting homeless of streets and reducing crime. We want all lower crime but how much power are you willing to give the federal government for it?

Playing out quite well, isn't it!

Measured by the DOW? If it was spewing a worthless opinion and analysis while using the DOW as a measuring stick and "running around crying about the sky falling" a few months ago, is it not also spewing a worthless opinion and analysis a few months later to run around crowing that all is going quite well with that as your stick?

Powell to the people

"While the labor market appears to be in balance, it is a curious kind of balance that results from a marked slowing in both the supply of and demand for workers," Powell said. "This unusual situation suggests that downside risks to employment are rising, and if those risks materialize, they can do so quickly in the form of sharply higher layoffs and rising unemployment."

"The effects of tariffs on consumer prices are now clearly visible. We expect those effects to accumulate over coming months, with high uncertainty about both timing and amounts. The question that matters for monetary policy is whether these price increases are likely to materially raise the risk of an ongoing inflation problem," Powell said.

"A reasonable base case is that the effects will be relatively short-lived, a one-time shift in the price level. Of course, one time does not mean all at once. It will continue to take time for tariff increases to work their way through supply chains and distribution networks. Moreover, tariff rates continue to evolve, potentially prolonging the adjustment process," he said.

"It's also possible, however, that the upward pressure on prices front tariffs could spur a more lasting inflation dynamic, and that is a risk to be assessed and managed."

Let's let it all play out and see what happens.

You're mad that the Dow is up and the economy is doing well? I made the point months ago that having a meltdown because it dropped a bit and claiming that was proof that Trump was destroying the economy was premature and an emotional reaction. It was. Now we see the bigger picture and it's positive. You guys hate that because it doesn't bode well for the midterms next year. You'd rather the economy tank and you regain power than for the current admin to succeed and the economy boom... and boom for everyone. BTW, what stick are you talking about?

Mad? There is not even a hint of emotion in my post lol.

I'm making the point that if it was an emotional and premature reaction just a couple months into a 48 month term to claim economic destruction using the DOW as a measurement tool, it is just as emotional and premature to claim you have "seen the bigger picture and it's positive" a few months later into a 48 month term. I'm simply saying let's let it all play out and see what happens, while including the Fed Chair's remarks that sparked the market rally. The rest of your post is....unrelated to anything?

The DOW as a measuring stick for how the economy is going, you didn't offer any other economic indicators.

It would've been quicker for you to just say, "Yeah, we overreacted back in the spring and it's looking a lot better now." Of course we're still only about 1/6 of the way through Trump's term. I'm just making the point that the doom and gloom and "It's the end of the world and the economy is destroyed" reaction was premature and silly. It's very good at the moment. We'll certainly see how it plays out over the next few years.

Lol, there is no we, so why would I say that? I was trying to politely say you should take your own advice, lest you be seen as premature and silly in the coming months/years.

Let the watching it play out continue.

It's not federalizing or militarizing the local police. It's just supplementing the manpower to reduce crime. If they nab someone, they turn them over to the local authorities. Until now, they haven't even been carrying weapons. As of today, some will, but not all will be carrying weapons and those that do will carry sidearms or rifles.

Say what? lol

In California, Governor Gavin Newsom - a frequent Trump foil and former San Francisco mayor - quickly made clearing encampments a priority, paving the way for San Francisco's dramatic transformation.
