Kickers have one thing to do. Kick. They should have the ability to have faith that the snapper will accurately snap the ball within centimeters of where the holder/placer expects to catch the ball. The kicker will then confidently pooch the ball from 70 yards away (if necessary).

After that simple assignment, the kicker will become so overconfident in his ability that he will destroy anyone that attempts to return a failed field goal attempt, or muffed snap.

That's all in my imagination.

No wait. It's not.
While I agree most peoples attitude on kickers is you have I job, and do it right with no excuses. About kickers " selling out" , I was also a scout team fullback, nose tackle, or anything the team needed. I was also 5'8 225lbs, and bench pressed 405lbs. I never was treated different due to my position, if anything I got it worse. I was pound for pound the 2nd strongest athlete on the team in 1997. I have a fused right leg. I can't bend my knee. I can only move my ankle. This radical operation was done because I had a bone on bone knee, and due to many bone grafts, I only have 1/3 of my femur left.

You played on the team. You should know if players were getting money and grades better than we would.

I thought the same thing at first, but then I re-read the post and the subsequent post and figured he was asking what people thought of the situation. I get it.

I don't understand why this guy is getting so much heat. For spelling adn gramur?

I think I liked it better when people were saying how bad the team looked and there was all the debate over how good we are versus how bad we are. There must not be many thought provoking posts this week if this is what we are left with.

kicker20 - I think you are who you say and I am stoked to have you posting here. Some of your stories about your playing days are really fun to read and I look forward to more.

Send some good kicking mojo to B Walker this Saturday!!!

Weis had one of his destroyed. My right knee is gone. I describe it as a bad knee. I do not tell people that my Anterior Cruciate Ligament and Lateral Meniscus, and Medial Meniscus are ripped. Dr's refuse to touch. It is too boring to me to explain those details when someone asks why I am limping.

Kopka had 90% of his cartilage removed, according to 1 article I read.

I think the message here is "lay off the kicker - he is selling out for ND, but coaches don't have their shit together yet." I guess coaches at ND still think kickers don't need a team.

It's getting late.

I am very sorry to hear about your knee problems. I hope you can get some help. Ir you want I can give you the name and a expedited visit with one of the best sports medicine doctors in the world. This group did 16 of my 18 knee surgeries. Their name is Champion Sports Medicine in Birmingham, Alabama. Dr. James Andrews is the majority owner of the practice. The do all the surgeries for most NFL, MLB, NHL, players. They also do all the operations for the WWE. They have a state of the art facility. If I can help you, let me know.

Thank you very much for the warm welcome. I am who I say I am. I am not that important that I can see anyone pretending to be me.

And the preception is is that kickers are only part of the team when needed. If they come through big they are heros, see LSU's punter, and when they don't they are hated, see Alabama's kicker.
