irishwavend said:With early enrollment, there will be plenty, I'm sure.
Svoboda said:I'm wondering if Weis is planning to have more come early then originally intended?
jiggafini19 said:Depends on what the powers that be give him.
Svoboda said:Call me crazy, but I think they'll give him whatever the hell he wants as long as it is reasonable.
If you ever needed good PR after the whole Ty fiasco, Weis has put Notre Dame back into the good graces with the media with the Montana story, his wife's charity, etc.
Keep him happy and keep him here.
jiggafini19 said:This is still Notre Dame. they'll cut Charlie some slack, but they're not giving him the keys to the car.
irishwavend said:Because we only offered 14 guys last year, whoever comes in early for the spring semester will count as last year's class. So, we may have 85 guys on the team at the moment, but a number of them are walkons who don't have scholarships. That said, if we have 2 guys enroll early we will technically have 27 scholarships this year...25 filled out for this year, plus 2 added to last year's class...making it 16 for last class. Make sense?
Svoboda said:I'm not suggesting they would. However, if he asked for 5-7 early enrollments, I think they would be okay with that considering the small class we had last year and the booming interest in the University.
And then there is money. By missing a BCS game, the University stands to lose approximately $13 million dollars. While Notre Dame certainly ain't hurtin' by any means, $13 large is still $13 large.
Its more like taking the car for a joyride but filling it up with gas before you return it.

I believe that Jenkins has told the admissions dept to do everything possible to accommodate Weis and that was decided when Weis took the job. It is also rumored that was a sticking point with Meyer. He is rumored to have wanted a certain number of "exceptions" to the nornal requirements for admissions and the administration would not grant them. This may or maynot be true but it adds fuel to the fire of possible conflict.
Let's get on the same page guys.
jiggafini19 said:I hope they get 5 or 7. Problem is, there are about 30 a year total in the NCAA D I-A.
I'm guessing there will be 3, 4 tops.
irishwavend said:BTW....As far as the media guide or "The Bible" as we called it goes, I used to put it together working in the sports information dept. I have been working with college football for 6 years...I think I know how this recruiting stuff works.
Svoboda said:Didn't Ohio State have like 32-33 a couple years back?
