Jesus Christ, the excuse for us sucking is because kelly yells? WE JUST GOT BEAT AT HOME BY TULSA! If this is the reason for being this terrible, then I cannot wait for whomever the cry baby sissy *** players who can't take being yelled at, to graduate. This is ridiculous. If they weren't dropping balls, missing blocks, and making bad decisions then they wouldn't get yelled at.
ND has a ton of problems, but "yelling" is not one of them.
I think there is one big thing we are over looking with the Tulsa game. How about the fact that we lost by 2? and needed a field goal to beat tulsa with 40 seconds left? The bigger problem is why was Tulsa even close?
lol. Methinks a chill pill is in order, and maybe a class in prevention of leaps in logic.
I don't remember the progression of the conversation about "yelling", but I do remember posting somewhere an opinion, and adding that it is such a minor point that the only place I have seen the topic come up is on this site. Many on another thread leaped to the conclusion that Dayne Crist all of a sudden had developed a bad attitude, based on a one second shot on NBC where he was taking off his chin strap as Kelly tore into him.
My point in all this, and I have been speaking in generalities, not poking at Kelly and asking for his head, is that yelling after an "honest" mistake might be counterproductive. The other ridiculous leap in logic posted by many is that if you don't yell (cuz this is football dammit!) then you are obviously "coddling." I'm sorry, but that is shear nonsense. Others have said they needed a coach to get in their face and cuss and scream to motivate them. Well I say, if I have an athlete that I need to cuss and scream at in order to motivate him, I wouldn't waste my time with him and I would just bench his ***. I mean really, who the hell needs an athlete on the team that requires such extreme tactics on a D1 level after every series? Just bench his ***, or look internally to make sure you are not the problem to begin with.
In my mind, if a coach -any coach- is constantly yelling his head off in frustration, that could indicate underlying problems overall. Again, this is a very minor issue, but it has been fun discussing it. lol.
And k1ssme1m1r1sh, Holtz yanked a guy by the mask exactly one time that I ever saw. This does not mean he did it all the time. And it was after a crucial and stupid stupid move on the athlete's part.
