The Punt

Block! Man, I really think that one play was the turning point, not only in the game but for the future of ND.
All year, I was screaming at the TV "Why aren't they trying to block the punt?!?!??!" A few guys rushed and didn't even pretend to try.
But now I'm wondering if Kelly was keeping this for this game to really get something going.

You watch and see how that one play will effect the future of our Irish.

That play and Smith's pick were the keys to the game.

Yeah! but I'd pick Collensworth fumble over the pick cause it was in the second half, where I wondered how ND/Utah would come out, it really set the precedent for the rest of the game, and cause we capitalized on it and got 6! :)

Jonas Gray's long run, Sparked the offense. Made Utah think

yes!

I don't get though that we barely saw Jonas afterwards, I would have thought he'd have deserved more rushes after that, even if Cierre is CLEARLY BK's favorite and desperately tries to get his confidence up with more action

The Notre Dame TEAM---all of them
This was a great team game, including the coaches and the real ND nation.
"With a little bit of luck, with a little bit of luck" we would be 8-2.
GO IRISH!

ME TOO! except I know mark is going to say "well, Utah comes off a very tuff loss and they were way overrated to start with, I don't think ND really were the underdog in this...They better have won...blah blah blaack"

To prove my point ;)

New York Times Article said:
An untouched Robert Blanton blocked Sean Sellwood’s punt, picked up the ball and ran for a touchdown from 6 yards out late in the opening period to put Notre Dame ahead, 7-3.

“We were struggling, and that jump-started the whole sideline and team,” Ress said. “From that point, we started rolling.”

yuppers :)

The haters are the same people who said "blah Blah charlie brown's teacher...Utah will win by 20+, blah blah this will be a slaughter." Now all of a sudden they are saying ND is not relevant and Utah is overrated. I say, rain rain go away, that's what all my haters say! They smack talk ND because they are RELEVANT. This team was awesome saturday. If that team played MSU, Michigan, and Stanford, we'd be 8-1 because Tulsa was just a bad call. I truly believe Brian Kelly is in the right place doing the right things. Next year we'll be all good, then see how twisted Mark's panties get.

You are so right. There will always be ND Haters when we are successful so get used to all the haters because when we start winning on a consistent basis they will definently be out in force and try to rain on our parade.

I like how after the fumble first play we get a touchdown. I loved it.

that was big...to score so fast after a turnover, it can demoralize a team. One thing Mayock said that was so true, is that you could 'feel' momentum in the 2nd half going towrds ND. it was almost tangible.

I know this is an old thread but that one moment is still burned into my mind. It was the sweetest thing ever and one of my best moments of '10.
This was a recent article about it;

Notre Dame Football: The Play That Changed The 2010 Season | Bleacher Report

I read that earlier and I tend to agree that sure was a turning point for the game and perhaps the rest of the season.

After Blanton blocked that punt, I haven't heard ND stadium that loud in a loonnnnngg time.
