My dad was an absolute die hard UE fan before he passed in 2012. I haven’t followed it as close as I used to since then...but this is one of the biggest nights in the history of this city!

My family too. My uncle played with Griese and the Rex Mundi crew and are Sloan and Humes ages. He talks about playing pick up with those guys all the time.

UE owned that town in the 60's and probably until Bobby got the Hoosiers humming in the mid 70's. Roberts was a fun place to play at. 9,000+ and that place was built for noise. I bet sectionals were a blast.

My earliest memories of basketball was my pops watching Bulls games because of Sloan and of course I became the President of the Stormin' Norman Van Leer Fan Club.

Gonna be a lot of those turncoat Wildcat fans having to go rent a room in Henderson for a few weeks! Serves em right! My Sister's one of them. I already sent her a text and of course I got no reply. BWAHAHAHAHA

I still remember being in 4th grade and crying in my living room after IU best em on a last second shot in NYC.

Wierd co-winkydink. UE's top scorer from last year's Aces team Ryan Taylor (GT'd to Northwestern) was born in Gary and played HS in Michigan City... just like old Crusader.

Bet he's happy for them... and bummin' at the same time.

Great early season win for EV....won't mean much in the grander scheme of things for 99% of CBB come tournament time. Always good to see an underdog win the fight.

Can't believe they beat UK man haha, my brother went to Harrison with McCarty, they still talk fairly regularly. What are the odds, the talent disparity in that game lol

Congrats Aces!!

I'm happy every time Kentucky loses a basketball game. This L particularly warms heart.

First time since 1993 that a mid major has beaten the #1 on their home court.

Correct me if wrong (I was raised by Northern Indiana elitist).

I was told that "Evansville is so far south, they're more Kentucky (and Lville) fans that Indiana teams.

If there's any truth in that...that would be, ironic... Lol.

The Kentucky fans are thick because there are so many who fled that state to live here.

There is a strong ND presence as well but IU probably holds a plurality. At least during basketball season.

The Lulvul fans are over in SE Indiana. Every branch of my family in Indiana came from Kentucky almost all to get factory jobs during the War efforts.

The other thing people have a hard time grasping is how Catholic the larger river cities are. Yes it's the Sortasouth but Evansville is just like Pittsburgh, Cincy, Louisville, St Louis... AT the time of ND's founding, Father Sorin received the land from the Diocese of Vincennes and was affiliated with the Diocese of Bardstown (which is now centered in Louisville. When I'm in town, I watch games at the BWW on Greenriver Rd. I'd say half the bar is ND fans with IU, Purdue & UK fans mixed in. During basketball season? 65% IU, 25% UK, 5% Purdue, 0% ND, 5% random.

Wow, that's interesting, I didn't know that about the Diocese.

Yeah, the football contingent here is largely Notre Dame, like you said probably at least half, which is pretty good seeing that we're 7 hours or so from campus. Basketball is split up pretty good, there's still some Aces fans, some USI fans, the majority IU, more UK than there should be lol, but we're 15 mins from Henderson, KY so whattya expect?

Thanks for the estimates!

I figured my folks were exaggerating - they also probably exaggerated the amount of teeth "you people" have missing... lol
