The Next 15

Now that David Poz is Irish, who will be the next 15?

There are 57 offers on the Official Offer List. 13 of the 57 are committed in some form to ND and other schools. This leaves 44 uncommitted recruits on the list. Of these, there are about 14 (Bryant, Brewster, Jones, Holmes, etc.) that have expressed little or no interest in ND, which leaves a list of 30. So, here is the deal. Out of these 30 (The 30 Possibilities) predict who you think will be the next 15 to commit. (The Next 15 List) Then, look at your list of 15, and see if there is anybody of the other 15 that you would rather have on your list, and make that list. (The Preferred 15) If you feel there is someone that is not on the 30 to select from, either a long shot pick that is already offered, or someone presently not offered, just put him in either one of your lists, but try to avoid putting anyone on your lists if you think there is little or no chance of ND recruiting them, e.g. TJ Bryant.

This is just for fun to see the general feel of this forum on the offered and interested recruits thus far this year. It is not intended to be an “expert” prediction that someone will come back to you with later and say you said “so and so” was coming to ND, and he didn’t. I’ll start it with my Next 15, and my Preferred 15.

I would be thrilled with My Next 15 if it ended up that way. The only 2 changes I made to the Preferred 15 would be to get Marcus Forston & Darrell Scott in place of Clelland & Gray. Forston & Scott may well be the top DT & RB in the 2008 class, so who would not want them. Gray would be a great addition, but Scott is a potential All-American. Clelland would be the 3rd rated OL of my next 15 behind Art Forst & Trevor Robinson and may not have a slot available anyway if he waits too long.

My Preferred 15 would have 4 LB’s (Beal, Filer, Fleming, and McDonald) along with Poz, and 3 DL’s (Forston, Newman, & Williams) along with Sean Cwynar to give the Irish defense 9 beasts in the front seven for 4 years straight. Somebody pinch me, wake me up, I must be dreaming, but what a nice dream.

If I was doing 11 that would be my list as well. The other 4 on my 15 that you did not list are Brown, Forst, Blanton, and Gray, all of whom are going to be tough to get. Brown is so recent, but there seems to be a great connection there already. If they can get Forst on campus, I see him as going Irish. If Blanton shows up again at the B&G game I beleive that ND will have a real solid chance at him as well, and Blanton is going to be a big time recruit. Gray will be tough, but I have to think CW will be able to recruit at least 1 RB, if not Gray, maybe the new offer, Carlton Thomas.

If I was to add one to my preferred, I would add back Jeremy Brown. Only took him out because thought there was greater need on the Line than in the secondary; either Brown or Blanton would be a great pick-up, but thought that Blanton was further ahead.

Oh yeah, there will be a lot more offers, I think as many as 20 more, and as reported earlier, we can all scratch Trev Robinson from our next 15. Did anybody not have Robinson yet?

gotta think that reuland, wes kemp and a few more DL will get offers. Also, not many out for DBs right now. I think we need to offer Holley before it's too late.

I agree with the first part, but not on Holley, and here is why. I posted this yesterday on a Holley thread, so I am just copying it.

I don't think the Irish will offer Holley anyway, certainly not if he commits to Florida early. Size is a real issue for Jarred, he weighed in at only 162 lbs. at a combine, and it's obvious that the coaching staff likes Jeremy Brown a lot more at the CB position, and ND seems to have a good shot at getting him out of Florida. I also have a strong feeling that if Marcel Rose's test scores are good that he will get an offer, and most people believe that Rose is an ND lock. Also, I've seen film on Robert Blanton, and although Rivals lists him as a Safety, he is mostly playing CB in the clips. Blanton's size and speed would easily allow him to also play CB in college. I'm not big on judging these guys by the film clips, but from what I have seen Blanton is a much more physical presence than Holley. He also appears to have a strong interest in ND, as he was at Wednesday's practice and there is an unconfirmed report that he will be returning for the B&G game. All of this combined with some pretty decent existing depth is most likely the reason why Holley has not been offered. All indications were that ND was Jarred's favorite and he would have probably accepted an ND offer pretty quickly, but he appears to be the victim of playing a position where there are a lot of guys that the staff feel are better suited for ND, and that ND also has a great shot at recruiting. Jarred at least as far as ND goes falls into the same category as Brett Nagel, Erik LeGrand, and Kris Johnston, in that they would all probably have to wait for the guys that the ND staff rank above them to decide before they would get an ND offer. It is unlikely that any of them except Johnston will wait for that to happen, especially Holley who is the highest rated and most heavily recruited of the guys mentioned above.
