It can also include Love at UCLA and OJ Mayo at USC.

Eric Gordon inhaled as he waited for the basketball. The crowd in Assembly Hall got respectfully quiet. Except for one voice that screamed this message:
"I LOVE YOU ERIC GORDON!"
It was not a female voice.

I'm guessing there will be many man-crushes on him in Bloomington before his college career ends. Question is....how good is this kid? and will he make a bigger splash than Mayo??

I think Mayo will look better because he doesnt have the surrounding cast Gordon has. He has Basset and White to name a few. I think Gordon is going to be better, the only other Freshman in the nation that will be better, maybe, is that Rose kid down in Memphis.

i hope he pans out big time. I have just now gotten over IU firing Bobby Knight. I am ready for this ship to be righted along with ND.

Go IU!

He looks exactly like my dad

Im still not over Bobby Knights firing, it was crap. Miles Brand needs to go bankrupt for that crap. Knight was the first reason my dad liked IU basketball, not so much for his coaching, but what he did as a person with his players and how much money he's donated. I think he should still be at IU, but thats just me.

it is just amazing that they fire a coach who was completely clean with his program and then hire Sampson. I can't believe he got caught with recruiting violations again.

He seems like he is still in denial about these recent phone calls. I doubt it though. Miles Brand is a very close second to Mark May in my hatred list.

I hate him as much as I hate the ones that did away with the 1 class high school basketball tournament in Indiana. THAT was Hoosier Hysteria. Now its just another high school basketball tournament

I'll answer your question with a question...

If a tree falls on Bobby Knight at center court and it's not yet tourney time... does it really happen when no one is there to see it???

and you clowns want playoff system??? :basketbal :(

Honestly, there was a elder lady on the other side of the court, she needed to have a seat. And for the Damon Bailey reference, i was thinking more of a Calbert Chaney, but either or, he will be amazing. Hopefully he will be smart enough to stay longer than a year.

Hey, I was a big Indiana fan since '84. I just happen to like UC, UCLA, Xavier, ND, and THEN Indiana. This is basketball of course.

here is my Movie of the Week story about Bobby Knight. My brother was stationed in Okinawaw during the 1981 or 82 tournament, which ever year they won the NC. My mother wrote Bobby and asked for an autograph to send over to as there were several Hoosier Marines there. This huge box shows up filled with sweatshirts, autographed b-balls, pictures, IU shot glasses etc and a letter from the General to the guys. He also sent my mother a letter and THAT is framed and hanging in my parents living room.

Good Calbert call, that was my boy.

I dont remember any of them playing really, i was born in 86, so the good times of both ND football and IU basketball happened at an early age for me. Not too many memories of the "good times." However, I have faith both will come around and back to their winning ways soon enough.

The eighties were good years. music was bad and the hairstyles were really bad, but ND and IU ruled.

After 3 games, Gordon is avg about 28 per game. Not too shabby.

Rose, Love, Shingler, Beasely, Mayo, and Gordon are monsters.

Already, he has cleansed Lake Michigan of all pollution off Gary-Whiting, raised reading scores at Purdue and convinced Barack Obama to resign as senator from Illinois and move to Muncie to run for mayor.
He is not nonstop spectacular. He is 6-4, 215 pounds and with the sort of basketball skills and carriage that suggest someone-the-air-will-know. On a campus deeply pining for the chair-first competitive consistency of Bob Knight's forever-plaid era, Gordon is the hope accelerant, here and now.

XAVIER 80, No. 8 INDIANA 65
Musketeers take Hoosiers to school

Gordon still managed 20 points, but 12 were from the free throw line. From the field, the reigning Indianapolis Star Indiana Mr. Basketball from North Central hit just 4-of-12 shots. And most of his scoring didn't come until late in the game. Gordon cracked double figures with two free throws with 6:41 to play.

Nice to see Xavier beat a good team. Gordon is gonna have some growing pains this year.

Personally, I think Beasley is going to have the biggest impact of any freshman this season with either Rose or Love coming in second. I realize that he's gone against mostly second tier opponents so far, but I can't remember the last time I saw a freshman this impressive in the rebounding department. Plus, over two-fifths of his rebounds are on the offensive glass. We definitely could have used that in the Illinois game (we meaning the hated Blue Devils).

Maybe from being able to set the tone for the team, Rose or Gordon will be more important for their respective teams in the long run, but right now this kid looks like a force of nature.
