The Butkus Award

Jaylon Smith, Alex Anzalone and Michael Deeb are among the roughly 50 players around the country who made the preseason watch list for the high school Butkus Award, given to the top linebacker in high school.

Irish senior Manti Te'o won the first annual award after his senior season in 2008.

Te'o was also mentioned on the watch list for the Butkus Award (top linebacker) released this morning.

Yeeeaaaahhhh Mane! He really is just freakishly awesome! To add to that I just watched Anzalone's film and he is just as impressive to me! That kid is athletic as hell!
