The newbie thing is legit...... so i guess thats fair enough. Alot of them on here right now, its kinda bugging me. Actually this thread bugs me. People just keep making news one, especially ChamPen, and there are already threads about it. And they post information that is their OPINION, and play it off as actual information.

Kinda wishing the mods would make a rule that you can only make a new thread when you have been a member for more than a month, but thats just IMO.

In a perfect world (where our MODS didn't work full time), they would be able to block newbies from posting the kind of garbage that now fills this board and every other ND board.

They would welcome them to IE, encourage them to visit often, become more informed, and feel free to post opinions AFTER the head coach is named.

We live in a world where one poster says Stoops has already signed and said, "bring on usc" to another who says ND is after randy edsall and brian friggin billick.

Jpham I know you're in France this semester, but if you were on campus I'd mail you a wiretap to have been placed in Swarbrick's office as soon as we lost to Navy.

Gentlemen I am a Domer and i have a pretty good source from the midwest..very plugged into the college network out here...Probability is high that its accurate. Just wanted to let you guys know first. Not sure why the hostility.....I know tough season....But with Stoops the program can finally move in the right direction and reclaim what was once ours. National Respect.

There have been reports of ND not being interested in Kelly. However, he was on everyone's short list. Who knows what this means, but it does not sound positive for ND.

Even more specifically, he said, "I'm staying at Cincinnati." Not "as long as they'll have me" or any other qualifying add-on. Kinda hope it's accurate.

Apparently he said this on the morning show for WEBN one of the local rock stations here. I believe they interview the UC Head Coach once a week during the season, so for him to say this in that setting doesn't tell me much.

Why did he side-step questions from the national media 6 rows deep the day before, only to say he's staying on a local radio station? I'm not saying he didn't say it, but I'll believe he wasn't lying when Swarbrick announces the new coach and its someone with less credentials....

Leppy, I gotta take offense with you on this comment...Just because you have 1, 100, or 1000 post on here doesn't make you any more, or less, knowledgeable about ND football...

Sure, there are some trolls on here...We have USC, Florida, and Ohio St. fans that like to stir things up while we are going thru our down period...But the way you (and not just you, but other posters too) talk, it's like that you (and those other posters) think that you are the only ones who know what you're talking about and can have a rational discussion and exchange of ideas...That is not so, my friend...I may not have 100 posts, but I also have a life outside of IE...and maybe, just maybe, you (and other posters) should realize that there are those of us who just came across this site and that some of us may actually know more than you all do...and if nothing else, we bring a fresh, new perspective to how things have been going and what changes we'd like to see with our beloved Irish program...I'm about tired of all this "newbie" talk because it really is insulting to all of us who are new here and all it does is show how narrow-minded some of you can be...Get over yourselves and realize that there was a time when you had less than 10 posts on here too.

I understand where you're coming from. Maybe I painted with too large a brush in regards to newcomers at IE.

Nowhere in my post did you find that I was more knowledgable than anyone. People who have been here for 3 years know that's not my style. And yes it was confusing as a new member in January, 2007 but I felt my way around, figured out what the deal was, and acted accordingly. I wasn't stupid enough or ballsy enough to

1) create my own damn thread with old information or information that belonged somewhere else

2) come out of nowhere saying I had my sources telling me what ND's next move was and expecting people to take me as credible

I don't speak for everyone but I know I will have supporters in saying that many are sick and tired of these new members crawling out of the woodwork and claiming "kelly is done deal" or "stoops says bring on usc" or "brian billick is on the horizon."

IE members welcome and appreciate the fresh prospective, new ideas, etc. What we are tired of is all the unfounded rumors and garbage being thrown around here. This is not being judgmental. This is being realistic.

Let me be the first to say: if you're a newbie with a bold prediction of who will lead the Fighting Irish in 2010, fine. If you're wrong...I'll remind you. A lot.

If you're right....a case of beer of your choice is on its way to your house, cold.

Yeah, they are just quoting the article from Irish Central that I posted earlier. It's amazing how one bogus report then filters through legitimate news sources (please comment on how the Detroit News is illegitimate).

I wasn't able to find it but I'm assuming Irish Central is an unreliable website but who really knows.

Yellow seats aren't all they are cracked up to be - can't see the sidelines well, don't see plays develop, and when play happens in the corner (endzone) of the side you are on - you have to wait for the crowd reaction to have a clue what happened - trust me.

We're all getting sick of the unnamed sources being cited by posters and the media.

But you know what I'm even sicker of....the whole "I heard from my sister's boyfriend's cousin" shit. Ha Ha. It was somewhat humorous the first time. But it's been a waste of space since. Come up with something original. Bunch of friggin parrots around here.

You guys most delete them before we see them then, because I have'nt seen one yet!! What I have seen is a lot of these unnamed sources your talking about and it drives me nuts. Somethings got to get through to them. Yes lame and if I would have read this I wouldn't of posted that, my bad.

The hostility is due to the miserable season, to the high interest of this crowd in ND FB, and to the expectation that, in the age of the Internet, all answers should be obtainable instantly.

Otherwise, why did Al Gore bother to invent it?
