And this is why the refugee debate is stupid (amongst other reasons). It's exponentially easier to get here on a tourist visa (or in the case of the one guy, without one because we waive the requirement for European citizens). It's not like any of the AQ guys had to claim asylum to get into the US.

Terrorism is effective because when people are willing to die, there's effectively no way to stop them from violence 100% of the time. It obviates our system's reliance on the threat of punishment to coerce. Unfortunately, some risk is inevitable in a free society.
