Does anyone know or think ND is going to the Sun Bowl? That would be cool, since I only live a few miles away, I could finally see ND play in person.......

With 100 percent certainty, here is the Big East’s bowl situation concerning Notre Dame, according to Carparelli.

First off, USF is very, very fortunate to have beaten UConn. Because if the Bulls had lost to UConn and West Virginia, Notre Dame could have still been selected by the Sun Bowl. However, since the Bulls got their seventh win, the only way Notre Dame (6-5) can get to the Sun Bowl is by (a) upsetting USC Saturday or (b) Rutgers (6-5) losing at home to Louisville on Dec. 4.

The reason 6-6 Notre Dame wouldn’t be able to go to the Sun Bowl is because if the Big East has six seven-win teams to fill its six bowl games. The Sun Bowl is not allowed, by NCAA rules, to select a six-win Big East team (including Notre Dame) if a seven-win team is available. The Big East currently has five seven-win teams (Cincy, Pitt, West Virginia, UConn and USF) with Rutgers one win away from its seventh win.

So there it is.. Where now?

I would like to see them go to a bowl but this team has no confidence at all. Weis wont be able to bring them up to play. He has shown that the past 4 years.

Sun Bowl

I think the Sun Bowl is basically out of th question, unless Rugers loses to Louisville. They have to take a 7-5 Big East Team if one is available.

I think the Independence, Emerald and PapJohns bowls are possibilities. Isn't that sad that I typed that sentence?

Emerald is out, the ACC has 7 teams at 7-5 and greater and one 6-6. The Pac10 has up to 6 possible bowl eligible.

Papajohns is out via BigEast having a possible seven, 7 win teams vs the SEC.

Independance has 7 teams from the Big12 with greater than 7 wins. And again, the SEC.

So basically the SEC needs 2 teams to the BCS I guess for us to get a chance.. The SEC currently has 8 teams 6-6 or greater.

It is really quite amazing how 2 weeks ago we were talking Gator bowl, maybe Cotton... And now more than likely no bowl at all.

Yes, let's rearrange the entire scholastic year, just to accomodate going to some second rate bowl.

If this were the BCS Championship we were talking about, I might agree with you. But not the Meineke Car Care Bowl.

I'm not jazzed about the Bowl either, but the only chance you get to go to a Bowl to bring in some revenue and exams can't be changed to a different date? I've never heard of that at any College at any level.

Huh? Pretty much every team that is .500 will get an invite.

here it is, IF Louisville wins on the 4th it is official we are in the Sun Bowl to play Cal

IF Louisville loses to Rutgers on the 4th we are in Texas Bowl tp play Rice

from my view that's it and that's all... of course we will get an invite... only question is will we play on the eastern or western side of teaxs come Dec. 30th


...and will my Sun Bowl tix be a complete wash

I suppose they would it is my understanding Sun Bowl gets first idbs IF they aren't forced to take a Big East team (Which would happen if Rutgers wins) then the Texas Bowl

That's what others are stating... SUn Bowl reps make it sound like since their contract is with the Big East then it is between those two parties... I doubt that is true but it's all over the Sun Bowl website and local El Paso news pages... just google 'Notre Dame SUn Bowl'

Well guys we won’t be in a major bowl this year, everyone knows that, but we have to start somewhere.
If we can win a bowl game this year, maybe it will give us some momentum for next year.

Well it's not the papers it's the Sun Bowl Pres. and co.

NOT saying I believe the stuff they are saying, just that they ARE saying it and it is very interseting how these smaller bowls are screaming for ND... Teaxs Bowl is pretty excited from my understandings too

They know they will sell out of tickets. Something they likely do not enjoy every year. I am not sure if the Music City Bowl sells out every year. They have had teams such as Georgia, Auburn, Wisconsin and Alabama in recent years.
