News Release

News Release

METROPOLITAN POLICE DEPARTMENT

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Former Tennessee Titans quarterback Steve McNair was found shot to death this afternoon inside the living room of a downtown Nashville condominium. A check of McNair's body at the scene by medical examiner staff this evening showed that he was shot multiple times. A female friend of McNair's, Sahel Kazemi, age 20, was also found dead in the living room. She appeared to have a single gunshot wound to the head. A pistol was recovered close to Kazemi's body. Autopsies are expected to be conducted tomorrow.

A witness reported that McNair arrived at the condominium in the early morning hours of Saturday. The witness said Kazemi's vehicle was already there.

McNair jointly rented the condominium, located at 2nd Avenue South and Lea Avenue, with his friend and sporting goods dealer Wayne Neeley. Neeley arrived at the condominium shortly before 1 p.m. today and found McNair and Kazemi shot. Neeley telephoned McNair's friend Robert Gaddy, who came to the scene. It was Gaddy who placed the call to police at 1:35 p.m.

Kazemi was arrested for DUI at 1:20 a.m. Thursday while driving a 2007 Cadillac Escalade registered to both her and McNair. McNair was in the front passenger seat of the vehicle at the time of the traffic stop at 9th Avenue and Broadway. He was deemed not to be in violation of the law and left the scene by taxi.

If that's the case, that's an incredibly stupid reason to kill some one. My cousin was driving my drunk ass back home in Minnesota, where he got pulled over and arrested for dui. I left via taxi, similar to McNair. My cuz never got upset.

Perhaps it's an XX issue rather than a XY issue.

It could be woman scorned or it could have been made to look that way. My guess is the girlfriend did it. But, it could have been anything from pissed wife, wrong friends, to someone that broke in. Thats why they are still investigating. One thing they did say that sort of makes it simple is that they are not looking for a suspect at this time.

Gunshots weren't reported? You're telling me that with a MINIMUM of THREE shots, no one reported anything? Silencer maybe?

Which they should be doing.

Isn't that S.O.P. until they find some indication of another person(s) being there.

There was a 30 minute gap from the time the other guy walked in and the cops were called. The police spokesman said he thought they were sleeping at first. Then when he realized he freaked and called a friend.

I had not heard the half hour thing. I just heard that the guy that called the cops was not the guy that first entered the condo. If that is so then he would be a person of interest, one would think. I guess we can speculate until the findings are released. Thats all I am doing, speculating.

Police "Murder-Suicide"

Police rule McNair shootings a murder-suicide - FOX Sports on MSN

Former NFL star Steve McNair was shot dead in his sleep last week by a 20-year-old girlfriend distraught about mounting financial problems and her belief that he was seeing someone else, police said Wednesday.

Sahel Kazemi "was spinning out of control" when she shot McNair four times as he dozed on a sofa early Saturday, then turned the gun on herself, Police Chief Ronal Serpas said.
Interviews with friends revealed that she was making payments on two cars, her rent was doubling and she suspected the married McNair was having a second affair with another young woman. She told a friend on Friday that "My life is a ball of s--- and I should end it," Serpas said.

... Serpas said detectives learned that Kazemi recently found out about another young woman she thought McNair was romantically involved with and had even followed that woman home, though she did not confront her.

... Kazemi's family told reporters that the woman was so confident McNair was divorcing his wife of 12 years that she was preparing to sell her furniture and move in with him.

... Serpas said police believe McNair was asleep when he was killed because there were no defensive wounds. After shooting McNair in the head, Kazemi apparently shot him twice in the chest before shooting him again in the head.

"Heaven has no rage like love to hatred turned/Nor hell a fury like a woman scorned"

He did pay her bail for the DUI 2 days earlier.

Never had any luck with a silencer...because they're not silent. Just suppressors. Though I'm certainly interested if anyone has found a silent silencer...9mm in particular. Thanks.

Obviously the girl got crazy, but you have to think of it from her perspective - she's a 20 year old waitress, she's probably looking at a life struggling to make ends meet, she gets what she thinks is a winning lottery ticket (besides perhaps actually loving him) - and then it dawns on her that not only doesn't he love her back, but he doesn't feel he owes her anything - she starts to think this rich famous guy is just going to use her and discard her (as he was probably going to actually do), and she won't have any money, and he'll have all his money and have gotten his fun, too.

Murder isn't good, but of the three parties involved (McNair, the girlfriend, and McNair's family), McNair is a distant third on the sympathy list.

Being someone's mistress is always an impossible position, but when you're a regular girl, and a young girl like this, dating an older guy with so much money - what McNair was doing here was really thoughtless. You just can't put someone in that position. Or if you do you have to assure her that whatever happens, you'll take care of her. Otherwise you're liable to - well, you've seen.
