I'm breaking my own rule about not starting a thread, but "rules are made to be broken," right.
An excerpt from an e-mail I received from the Notre Dame Club of Minnesota:
I haven't (yet) found out if ND has a local team, but I intend to show up as a "walk-on" 4/11/2013 to get a Spring Shearing.
Here's a late May 1999* photo taken as I was on my way to the barber the day before my son's college graduation. I got a "regular" haircut and shaved the winter beard. This is pretty much what I look like now but with a bit more forehead and white in my beard:
Here's the deal – I haven't been able to work for over a year and saw no reason to get a trim. I see this as an opportunity to some good with my nostalgic attempt to recapture my halcyon hippie days. I'm hitting up family, friends and IE folks (friends as well as enemies) to step up for a good cause.
*Edit: I'm not quite as old as I seem to think. My son's grad was in 2009, though I shaved my head for kicks in 1999. I was then known as gandhishans – you'll see. My boy (then 12) made me wear a hat whenever I was with him.
Knowing the "no pics or it didn't happen" guideline here I will post either a before, during and after set of pictures or possibly a video.
If there is any interest I'll post information on how and where to make donations. Love me, hate me; just do an internet search on St. Baldrick's and Notre Dame.

Shave the Day!
Notre Dame has a long tradition of support for children with cancer. Join Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota for an evening of food, fun, and fundraising to support St. Baldrick’s Foundation. You can sign up to honor a child, shave your head or volunteer for this fun event ...
