in '05, that nd team wasn't near the underdog that this '09 team is and when we thought we won it there at the end (until the referees fudge packed us) the fans stormed the field.
if we win, there is no way those fans are staying in the stands. this would be a monumental/significant win.
storm the field with glee, enjoy the win.
The line for both of the games was right around 10
i'm not referring to the line. it's more in reference to the media pundits cuz back then, that nd team actually had more talent on offense than we do now. look at the team, jeff samardzija, maurice stovall, darius walker, brady quinn, asap shwap, fassano, zibby...the list goes on and on. and they had much more experience than this current team does & the defense was a heckuva lot better than this season's team.
so, yes this team currenlty has more of an uphill battle.
I disagree with you on the talent. Clausen, Tate, Hughes, Allen, Rudolph, - I would say the talent is very close, if Floyd is in its easily better today than it was but sans Floyd Id call it even.
I get what you're saying tank, but we aren't lining up against the '05 Trojans either. I would argue that overall we have more talent and athleticism than we did in '05 (there's no George West's in the two deep) but experience wise we are lacking, especially on D. I would rate it as on par with the 05 game in terms of where both teams are.
It's possible to storm the field with class:
The last second ticks off, sealing USC's fate. The Irish are victorious, by a 34-28 margin. 60,000+ fans spill out onto the field, surrounding their heroic idols at midfield. Suddenly, as one, the 40,000 or so fans in attendance that can, break into the alma mater. This team, which honors it's student support after every home game by singing the alma mater to the student section, is paid back in spades by a very grateful fan base. Today it is their turn, to be honored. 40,000+ voices sing out as one, praising the day the devil was sent packing, back to Soutern Cal.
2,220.93 miles (according to MapQuest) away, there is joy in the house of kmoose. The whiskey is flowing freely, and even the rain seems bright.
THAT is how you storm the field, ND style.

How about we storm the field if we lose, a la Kentucky against LSU in 2002?
