SN article - ND ranked too high

I don't know if that link will work but check out the article by Tom Dienart of Sporting News posted on the msnbc website. I swear these guys write negative articles about ND just to get exposure. From what I get out of this article, he doesn't think anyone in the nation has a good defense, but the only one that will have a problem is ND. tOSU, lots of new guys on the D, but there going to be better than you think. tOSU, new kicker, but he'll be OK. Not the case for ND in his mind (if there really is one). The D will suck and the new kickers will, too. Clemson and Iowa State? So their defensive questions don't deserve some concern? Of course he makes it OK by telling us we can go ahead and complain. Thanks for the permission, Tom. I'll allow you freedom of the press. Oh, wait I think you already have that right granted to you by the 1st Amendment.....unfortunately. Honestly, even if I weren't an ND fan, this article would have offended me.

ND is gonna get a lot of media coverage both good and bad. I tend not to get upset unless someone isn't giving the Irish a fair shake.

Question: do you think anything he said was unfair?

We are unproven at LB and in the secondary. We do have a new punter and kicker. With all those questionmarks on defense, I think it is fair to question the ranking.

If I had a vote (which I don't) I probably would have ranked us between 7-10. We have too much talent coming back and too good of a coaching staff not to be in the top 10. But we have just enough potential problematic areas to warrant being outside the top 5.

This is just a retread article he gives nothing new just the same b.s. are defense got torched in the Fiesta. Then says we did nothing to fix it. Which you can tell he didnt check anything because some of the guys went to specialized summer camps and we brought in 2 excellent freshman.

This guy could have titled his piece anything he wanted but he put ND too high because he knew he would get people to read it. ND is one of those teams you either Love or Hate and the Haters love to read articles beating us down. I just cant wait till Zibby knocks Johnson's block off and ends all this backfield is too weak talk.

I agree we don't rate #2 just yet, but to read this article you would think no one deserves it. The questions about our defense and kicking game are fair, but tOSU has some of the same questions we do. Of course, before a game has yet to be played, everyone has questions. I can't wait to see how the answers unfold. Maybe it's just my mood today, but it just ticks me off when someone writes an article like that. You're right, the title got me to read it, but after I was done he hadn't convinced me of his point. If he wants me to believe tOSU deserves their ranking and we don't he needs to do a better job of presenting the material.

Am I the only one who thinks WV is way overrated? I know Steve Shelton & Pat White had excellent years last year, but besides Georgia who did they beat and what was the last big game Georgia won anyway? The Big East is a joke besides Louisville, who are pretty good. Their 2006 non-confrence schedule consists of Marshall, Eastern Washington, East Carolina, Mississippi State & Maryland. Everyone in the press is in love with this team, I just don't see the reson why.
