Fun anecdote/story for all who've stuck in this game thread. I work with another manager at the firm I work at who played DT at Indiana in the early 2010's and told me this story. Kevin Wilson was the head coach for IU back then and the OC/DC were rotating in backups with first team reps to rest some of the starters (it was mid season). Wilson makes some sort of statement like "We have one fucking win on the season and you're resting starters?" Our boy Deland McCullough took offense to that, and ran up to Wilson to fight him letting Wilson know he's "from a different background" if you will. Had to be pulled away from Wilson. Makes sense why our RB room has a bunch of dogs.

We played like shit and won by 21 on the road against a P5 team.
Completely agree. We gave them a score via penalties, had a huge penalty differential, played like shit, dropped some passes but the secondary was on fire with the 3 picks. The refs did us no favors. The picks weren't errant throws, the secondary just had great timing.

The TEs got involved, the ground game wore them down and now our starting OL realizes they have to step it up. They started opening up some lanes, Estime even missed a few reads to the outside that could've been big gains. Price and Love were an arm tackle shy of having some huge gains.

This game never felt good until the end but it was nice to see them finally drive a blade into NC State. Credit to state for coming out fired up and selling out to stop the run. We didn't have the nerves/timing/cajones/blocking to make them pay early.

Jayden Thomas was close with that deep shot in the first.

I saw plenty of pressure, but ND applied pressure to contain Armstrong and force him to make plays from the pocket and not let him run wild. They had to play more restrained on the edges because they couldn't risk breaking contain. That's how Armstrong beats you.

It also didn't help that NC State's OL spent 3 quarters pulling ND's DL to the ground by their jerseys. I was getting super tired seeing guys like Botelho, Cross and Mills get pulled and it almost never getting called.

Reffing was infuriating. I was ready to see a torrent of nonsense about joining the Big 10 if we had lost.

We are getting pressure we just aren’t getting sacks.
People need to realize we’re playing 6 in the box to stop run with and we’re stopping the run. That’s impressive. You can’t rush the qb like some with less in the box unless it’s a clear passing situation. We’re collapsing the pocket and make the qb normally have to make quick decisions. Armstrong hurt us most when we let him escape pocket a few times

After going back and watching the DL for a few series, it isn’t that they aren’t able to generate push and collapse the pocket—they just can’t get off a block. Rylie Mills has a great bull rush…but that’s it. They’re going to need to continue to bring Marist and Sneed consistently to actually generate hurries and pressure.

They did not shed the guy that’s true but with a running qb u have to cognizant of rushing past the qb and letting him loose.
