A union would be fantastic for the Irish.
Most labor unions offer equal play amongst their ranks so there won't be anymore "over the table" bags of cash and they'll be forced back into the shadows to hide from a punishment.

Every freshman on the football team could earn a base $50,000 salary, meals, housing, and tuition.
Then they get a 20K raise every year. You're allowed one "free" transfer, but if you do it as an under grad, you only get a 10k raise instead of the base 20k.

I'm not sure exactly what the base salary should start at if 50K is too low. Maybe 100K?

I like the flat fee per athlete or a minimum for every athlete at $10k living expenses and a team cap that schools can divvy up any way they want.

I don’t see why direct, collectively bargained compensation from the schools would put an end to NIL. It would just put the screws to non-revenue sports.

Though I do see why it might be very good for ND.

If nothing else it will bring clarity to the rules and maybe allow the school to be more aggressive.

My idea is that as part of the agreement, players turn their NIL rights over to the school. The player can still make money from ads and autograph signings and things like that, but it all has to go through the school. The NCAA can then hold schools accountable for making sure the deals are legitimate and not inducements.

If NIL rights fall under the school, I think we'll be right back where we were prior to NIL with a lot of shady under the table P2P deals.
