As the knee-jerk defend Charlie guy, 2 things.

I'm pretty sure he never actually said that and that it was just a widely reported misquote (that inter-web thing is pretty powerful and enables lazy journalism: see fox news and its imitators.)

Second, if Kelly has the same success in his first years as Charlie had in his he could cling to the top of the golden dome wearing nothing but a man thong and scream "SCHEMATIC ADVANTAGE" over and over again for all to hear and I wouldn't care one bit. In fact, I'd probably love it.

Yeah, no reporter or fan heard him say it...it's just a quote that he allegedly told his players. I wouldn't be surprised if he said it, and I don't think it's all that bad. Think about, he came from a place where he won multiple SB rings as the offensive coordinator of a high-powered offense. Now he was coming to a place where the average athlete is smarter than those from other schools, and he was bringing his highly successful offense with him. And guess what? That first year...WE HAD A DECIDED SCHEMATIC ADVANTAGE. CW's offense was killing teams.

So for me, I had no problem with it, if he did say it. I loved the swagger he brought. Bottom line is, the team just got worse as he got further along. But like Phammer said...what does that have to do with the here and now? CW is an alum, a stand-up guy who has done and will continue to do great things in the community. I have no idea why the OP brought this up...I'd just as soon close this thread and move on to an exciting time in ND football. But, I'll let the posters decide where they want to take this thread...

That video was great. And yeah, I have no idea why this came up now and don't really care what he said. Charlie had confidence and swagger, gave life to the program and a bunch of scrubs, and for a while it worked great. BKs been showing confidence, hopefully he can get his own group to show that same swagger.

If BK has us in a BCS bowl half a year from now, he can take absinthe body shots off of Father Jenkins and I'll still love him.
