What would happen if, gasp, Notre Dame joined the Big Ten? You'd likely get four open spots for the non-Big Ten teams. Who do you keep? USC and Navy? I have no objection to seeing Notre Dame join the Big Ten, but as it stands I don't see it happening within the next five years.

I think when make long-term scheduling priorities you need to consider who you want to play every year and who you can afford to rotate in and out. I only care about playing Michigan, Navy, and Southern Cal annually. Michigan State, Pittsburgh and Purdue are probably on the next level of importance. I could not possibly care less about playing Stanford or Boston College.

And: You'll listen to what your daddy, Delany, wants you to do...

Why put the reins on a horse never meant to be ridden, my friend?

Robot won't let me rep for some reason, but reps anyway Johnny. Perfect quote for a wildman like you. Give you a gun and a mountain forest and you can go out and shoot some deer ... wait ... that didn't come out quite right. Cross that out ... I meant javelina.

Back on track, and I appologize for the tangent:

Our 2012 schedule is the type of schedule, should we go undefeated or lose a game, should still ensure our place in the NC.

I really feel 2012 is the year we do it...

Agreed. How cool would it be to win our 12th NC in 2012? Yeah! I can dig it!

Nice looks at numbers...

I hadn't considered the numerology of the prediction.

Wow.

Perfect.

The Big 10 is so gimmicky. They are like their own little franchise inside the NCAA. Notre Dame would be selling themselves way to short to join that conference. Johnnykillz is right. Plus I think the schedules for certain big 10 teams is a joke.

The new Pac 12 TV deal that includes waivers for the USC-ND and Stanford-ND games beyond Sept probably clears the way for the Stanford contract.

"There is also a clause in the new Pac-12 contract that restricts the scheduling of nonconference football games to the first three weeks of the season without a waiver carrying the approval of all 12 of the league's athletic directors.

However, Scott said the USC-Notre Dame game, one of the nation's longest and most tradition-filled rivalries, is exempt from the mandate, as is the Stanford-Notre Dame game."
