He deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. It's to bad that he didn't get to see it happen himself.

He was a terrible announcer but you couldn't help but love the guy because he bled Cubbie blue. I will definitely miss hearing his voice and his enthusiasm. Whenever something exciting happened for the Cubs, it was fun to hear what reaction Santo would give. RIP

Never saw him play, but he was great in the booth. He never sugar coated anything. He loved the Cubs more than anybody. He should be in the HOF.

RIP, this old cub

I am very sad that Baseball has lost yet another Icon...in a year that Sparky and Santo go, the big leagues upstairs just gained two great ones.

On a side note, I always felt if baseball didn't work out for him, he had a name perfect for the Adult Film Industry!

Heard this on the news this morning, and almost cried. Ron Santo was my number one hero when I was a kid. All through my little league career I had to have No. 10, cause that was his number. My teammates used to call me "Ron Santo" cause they knew I loved the guy so much.

If you are too young to have ever seen him play, maybe you'll get lucky and they'll play some old clips to memorialize him. Really and truly, in my humble opinion, one of the best third basemen ever to play the game. Was disgusted every time I would hear he hadn't made it in to the Hall--absolutely ridiculous.

Hope he's clickin' his heels in heaven now.

He should be in, and will be.... it is truly a shame that he didn't get to experience the honor while living.

Terrible news. I know that sports aren't that important in the scheme of things sometimes, but I wish that he would have been able to see his Cubs win a WS. I would have loved to hear him call that over the radio. RIP.
