So much for the 4 yards and a cloud of dust offense of the Big 10.

SEC and PAC 10 coaches tell recruits the weather's no good in the Midwest for passing but the Top 25 includes 9 in the Midwest area:

1.Quinn ND
2. Smith OSU
3. Henne UM
4. Stanton MSU
12. Tate Iowa
13. Palko Pitt
17. Meyer ISU
18. Stocco WIS
25. Getsy Akron

The Big 10 has 4 starters, the SEC and PAC 10 each have 3 starters and 1 backup listed.

Brohm should be 2 and Stanton 3. No way in hell does Troy Smith belong in there. That guy cannot perform against even a mediocre defense (and yes, I am insulting our defense from last season).

Troy Smith belongs up there, he brings that intangable to a team....however Henne should not be in my opinion ranked that high.

Henne's just like his team. Rated high every preseason then severly underperforms.

Yes, I realize we have little room to talk over the last decade. But in ND's best years of late, they actually began the preseasons unranked or ranked very low, while Michigan gets top 10 consideration year in and year out.

I'm not a fan of Iowa by any means, but Drew Tate not being in the top ten is something I question.

I like it. Let him have that big head. He'll see how he stacks up against the best when the Wolverines come into South Bend.

big head? you obvioulsy dont know how troy is now. he is very humble and always puts the spotlight on others and giving credit to everybody but himself. we could also use last year as a comparison, rather than this year when troy smith clearly outperformed brady against UM.

i'll give you that...but come on, our swiss cheese defense made Troy Smith a lot better looking than he really is. I think he is good, i think he is a winner, and i also think he is the best QB that you guys have had for a long time, but i still think he is a tad bit overrated...hopefully he proves me wrong all year, and our two teams meet up again in the fiesta bowl for another great game

I don't think Troy Smith outplayed Bray Quinn the slightest bit against Michigan. ND and O$U were using two entirely different strategies. O$U was in a shoot-out against Michigan for four quarters. ND got an early lead and used a conservative gameplan to keep it; luckily our defense showed up to play and had one hell of a game.

so then irishnd's comment can be disregarded. since there are two different strategies, we can never compare the two.

You should count Brohm, too. Louisville is practically in the North and has pretty bad weather...plus, KY was neutral during the war, so we like to disown them. Make that 10 QBs from the Midwest.
