Just my opinion here.

1. Redzone execution was horrible. Penalties, turnovers, missed FGs, and horrible OL drive blocking.

2. Piss poor play on defense. Did not read keys and play keys well at all until the fourth quarter. Our youth on the defensive side showed through without a doubt today.

3. Not getting the ball to the people whos hands it needs to be in.

Tate-1 catch first half, 8 the second half(the half we scored in). Use the man in the slot more, every time he touches it it could be 6.
Riddick- gets us the the goalline and we put in Hughes every time. Give the kid a shot, he has been running very hard. Hughes has gotten stopped at the goaline multiple times this year in critical situations.
Floyd- amazing game for the first game back, but you could tell he was a little rusty. Missed some passes he normally catches.

4. Most importantly, the entire Navy team wanted it more. Came out flat as hell.

CW is gonna hear the angry mob after this one for sure. Its sad, i like the man as a HC, but every once and awhile his playcalling is just horrible. We get it to the 7 and we are still in 5 wide? Obviously Clausen is not a running threat. At least make the defense have to think a little about what the play call is going to be.

A couple of pass interference calls in the end zone tht were not called. ND moved the ball well enough, but Clausen fumbled at the 1, a pic at the 4 turnover on downs at the 3. two missed field goals. JC was playing his heart out, it was a tough hit at he one, things happen like that. The score could have been 49-21 ND. The defensive scheme sucks. That is truly the bottom line.

Its a little more intricate than that. Like many have already said, CW didnt fumble, miss FGs, miss tackles, call the defense, miss tackles, drop passes, etc. We were in position to win relatively easily, but did not execute.

IDK if he controls subbing players in and out, but that was a problem on offense. (EX:Hughes for Riddick). Some play calling was a little questionable. He is responsible for having the players up and ready for the game, and they were not the first half.

Im a strong believer in taking responsability, and CW will take some. Tenuta should as well. How well you coach is seen on film, sadly, how badly you coach is also seen on film.

I like CW..... should be 8-1 at the worst right now. Could honestly be 2-7 though. Its upsetting no doubt, but if we cant get a BIG name coach with a track record of winning and winning the big games, i dont want him gone.

Hell, I know what play is coming almost every single time, so I know that defensive coordinators do as well (except ours for some reason). Weis' playcalling is too easy to figure out.

To paraphrase AJ Hawk to B. Quinn, "We knew what you guys were going to run, every play."

We didn't lose, we just ran out of time... hahahahahahah

Maybe you're on to something. They perform better when there is a sense of urgency? Why isn't there the same sense of urgency earlier in the game?

Maybe they could have Coach Knight come in and go all Neil Reed on someone? There's always room for one more choke-a-holic on this team. Just having fun.

even though cw is some what predictable, i still think the match ups he's setting up are spot on, it's all about player recognition and execution. today that fell short.

Yes, it's so easy that ND put up 500+ yards of offense today. And it's so easy that ND is ranked #5 in total offense.

The things that I noticed..........

1. We did not come out and spread out the field. This offense has had it's best production this year when they spread people out.

2. Against the triple option, you have to play close to the line of scrimmage. Why were our corners giving 10-15 yard cushions on seemingly every play? Are they that bad, that we are afraid that Navy's receivers will run right by them?

They did....

How many more games are we going to see where the TV guys so intelligently point out how BC became the blue print to beat ND and to sit back in coverage. Change things up a little ?

Maybe they could try running more screen plays?

They did what? The corners sure as hell weren't up in press coverage (close to the LOS) that I saw.

Reasons we lost:

1. Outside of Teo, the defense is filled with guys that would have no business starting for most other big time college programs. The talent is mediocre at best and it has shown all season. Terrible tackling, players out of position, confusion, and the inability to get off the football field on third downs have been staples of this defense all year long. Todays effort against a one diminsional offense was an embarrassment.

2. Red zone offense. Moved the ball up and down the field all day, but the inability to put points on the board cost us at the end. Missed field goals, turnovers, and failed 4th down conversions should not happen to an offense with as much talent as Notre Dame has.

3. The sack given up by Duncan for the safety at the end was inexcusable. There is no way a 240 pound military cadet DE should be able to whip around our 6'7"/315 pound left tackle like that in such at critical juncture of the game.

4. Navy is a better team than most thought. They are going to win 10 games this year and their only losses have been a 3 point loss at Ohio State, a 13 point loss at Pitt, and a freak loss at home against Temple. They are well coached and execute their game plan almost to perfection. Give them lots of credit.

With all this said, I would hate to see Weis fired as I fear losing the good players we have (Clausen, Tate) and the possible recruits who would turn away from the program with more coahing chaos. On the other hand I would not mind seeing Tanuta get the axe at the end of the year. While he lacks talent defensively, I just watched a Navy team with a bunch of hacks defensively give up 21 points on the road against a prolific ND offense, so what's Tanuta's excuse? Again, the offense sputtered today, but the failures of the defense has been the story for the Irish this season. I think a lot will be determined here in the next three weeks.

Good observations especially regarding JC and GT satying if CW stays. Sometimes I just wonder if CW is really a winner. We had alot of things just not go our way today but what are we doing in a struggle withthese guys anyhow. I like the guys but how come we can't dominate anynody anymore. He needs to o at least 2-1 to end the season and win hos bowl game (probably the Gator Bowl) otherwise he very well may be gone. I am Ok with Gruden. don't get rid of him until you are sure about his sucessor.

Everyone wants Tenuta's head now? When are we going to hold the head coach accountable for the defense? I haven't seen a good defense from ND since the Charlie years have began!
ND lost today because of very poor red zone execution and a very porus run defense.

They were not prepared.

In a nutshell.

The team did not perform on either side of the ball in the first half, thus giving Navy the only chance they had to win... a short game.

The defense was not sharp, and the offense simply wasn't physical enought to finish a drive. The coaches were responsible for both on these things. NAvy, on the other hand, executed for the full 60 minutes.

When a team with as much physical advantage as ND hed today gets beat, it is usually about the coaching.

I don't understand how we were not prepared for the triple option. We have played them every year since like the 30s. For God's sake, you have to try to be that incompetent.

ND was definitely ill prepared today and they played like they were confused.

Why didn't Tenuta and/or the ND staff study game films from the Parseghian era when ND beat Texas and Alabama when both ran the option offense to perfection. They used a mirror defense. The answers are in the archives and nobody did the research.

Absolutely inexcusable!!!!!!! Tenuta must go and ND must get a real Defensive coordinator and at least 2 DT's.

Also, when Andy Heck said to BQ "We know the plays you are going to run." That says a mouthful. I have a few friends that are football saavy and they can call the play when ND lines up at scrimmage.

ND lost because Navy wanted it more. The sad thing is that they expected to win. It sucks to watch a team celebrate after they beat you, but it’s an even worse feeling when they don’t celebrate after a win.

Just to beat a dead horse…something has to change. This just isn’t working. This loss is unacceptable.

WOW....really!?!

Well, I guess we should give CW, and JC and co, more credit then their getting, how else do you explain our passing numbers etc?

As for Hawk, he was sleeping with Bradys sister for heavens sake:makeout::makeadeal:rolleyes:
