Depressing season for Red Sox fans, but nobody has been a better source of smiles over the last half-dozen decades than Pesky. A true class act and a legend unique to the Boston Red Sox, he didn't belong to baseball like Ted Williams - he belonged to us.

The Sox will surely provide a tribute that will make Johnny's family proud. They haven't gotten much right recently, but I have faith the tribute will be done properly.

I suspect it will but any Fenway tribute will be awhile. Sox on the way to Baltimore than go to NYC. Their next home game isn't until the 21st (LAA).

Calling Rhode Irish and other Sox fans:

Ridiculous trade looks like it's in the works. For anyone who hasn't been watching this team over the past 2 years, this looks like a terrible trade for the Sox. For those of us who have, this looks like a dream come true. If they can actually get rid of the Beckett and Crawford contracts AND get legit prospects in return, this will be remembered as one of the most important trades in a long time. I'm giddy about this trade, I'm just worried that it's too good to be true. Unlike most of Boston I'm a big A-Gon fan but holy s*hit if they can pull this off I'll gladly root for him as a Dodger. I'm praying that this actually happens...

by the way I feel bad that I posted this in Johnny Pesky's thread, a guy who all Bostonians love including myself. Apologies for that and let me echo the sentiments expressed above - I just figured it was the best place to get Sox discussion going.
