IrishUncleBill on GoldHelmet said the Mizzou Rivals site is reporting that Munir will transfer.

Shite. I had somebody find his/her way to the Roundup via a search for "munir prince transfer", and so I was wondering whether there were any rumors floating around. Too bad. He saw some meaningful p/t this year, but maybe he didn't see himself as getting a chance to start. Best of luck to him ...

Slow down everybody. If it happens, it happens. I don't think creating a whole lot of hoopla over it is good for high bloodpressure.

I like Munir. I hope this is not true. I believe he could be a good CB for us next season. If he is leaving, that makes Lambert even more important in 2008. We will only have 2 CB's that have ever even seen the field at the college level is Munir leaves and Lambert does not return.

I hope it doesn't happen, but it wouldn't suprise me if it turns out to be true. I've heard his name mentioned as a possible transfer for some time.

It's hard to put in all that hard work and effort and not see a lot of PT.

I really like Munir, he seems to be a good kid. He was willing to take a position change and all. He actually looked good at CB the times I saw him. I hope he decides to stay. I can understand some of his desire to go back home and play at Mizzou. They are hot and currently have a 5star QB committed. Munir, stay ND we Irish fans want you on board.

I am so sick of hearing people with the Oh well, that is one more recruit for the incoming class. At some point, these guys leaving were the ones you were excited about back in the day. Don't be so fast to throw out guys like yesterday's laundry. The answer is NOT always another recruit. The kids we currently have can answer many of the issues. Let's hope Munir and all the others stay. Remember, Weiss once said that Munir had woosh. That speed could help at CB. Best of luck to Munir.

im not saying thats its not a big deal, i was just looking for something good from it. He's a good player, obviously charlie knows this, and its going to hurt to see another player leave. Thats all, just looking for some good in a bad situation.

jonesman,

I think that most of the people adopting that attitude are really saying, "If you don't want to be at ND, then we will find someone who does." Was there reason to be excited about Prince, coming out of High School? Absolutely! Did he show anything on the field to get excited about? Not really. He wasn't even a good enough tailback to play in front of two freshmen (Hughes and Allen) who looked like they were lost out there, more often than they didn't. And now, if it's true, he is saying that he doesn't want to be a part of the ND program? Don't let the door hit you, son...............

kmoose,
I will disagree with you on this one. Munir does have talent. He showed some flashes as a freshman, but he needs some time to physically mature. He does not have the natural strength of Hughes or Allen, but given the time to mature could be a really productive player. I think he would find a good niche at CB. Let's hope he stays. As for the don't let the door hit you remark. We have no idea what is going on behind closed doors and Munir has carried himself as a good representative of ND. He sure does not appear to be another DJ who I wish the door would have hit in the ass when he left.

I think he has potential. But that potential has not translated to talent on the field yet. I know he got some PT at corner this year, but I don't remember him making even one play that made me jump up off of the couch and say, "YES!! Nice play!!!!"

Guys,
Come on, on most teams with proper roster depth, you would not even know about most players potential until their junior year. We are in a situation where we are forcing many many of our kids to play way earlier than they should. Munir is a perfect example. If he had been given about 2 years to grow, strenghen and understand the system, I believe he would come on strong for his junior and senior seasons. We were so woefully short on RB talent last season that he was forced in too early. Look all over the depth chart and you willl see too many examples of this.

OK he should realize that now he's going into his junior year, it's his time to step up and be an important part of this Irish team. No need to run off and try to make a new start. There's plenty of room, time and opportunity at ND for him to still "make an impact" as a player. Stick around, Munir, and be part of the resurgent Irish football program!!!

Might be wrong on this but didn't he see time both his Fr. and Soph seasons at N.D. ? If so and he transfer he would only have one yr. of elgebility left. That makes me wonder even more about this info from the Mizzou board.

Actually, he would still have 2 years left AFTER he sits out next year (asusming that he does trf.). He won't lose a year of eligibility by transferring, but he would NOT be able to play next year.

Personally I hope that he doesn't trf., but he has to do whatever he thinks is in his best interest.

CB depth will be the biggest issue on the team next year if he transfers (kicking aside). If Lambert and Ferrine leave, we are left with.

Walls
McNeil
Baxter
Gordon
and Freshmen CB/S
and Safety's

What about Gary Gray? Granted he didn't play this year due to injury, but was there during spring ball plus around this fall observing.

Yep - he'll probably make a run at a starting job. And if Prince does transfer, I'd be really surprised if the staff doesn't offer to bring Lambert back.

There's a big difference between having talent, and using it. I think this guy has a high ceiling but he's just not living up to his potential. What he needed to be doing this whole time was working his a@$ off in practice but instead he just decided to coast on by and let 2 freshmen pass him on the depth chart.

also

As far as i can see, this rumor has not been confirmed so stop wishing him luck, he's still ours, for now anyway.
