But if it's a very small rock, it might float.

Like a duck.

The Witch: I'm not a witch I'm not a witch!
Sir Bedevere: But you are dressed as one
The Witch: *They* dressed me up like this!
Crowd: We didn't! We didn't...
The Witch: And this isn't my nose. It's a false one.
Sir Bedevere: [lifts up her false nose] Well?
Peasant 1: Well, we did do the nose.
Sir Bedevere: The nose?
Peasant 1: And the hat, but she is a witch!
Crowd: Yeah! Burn her! Burn her!
Sir Bedevere: Did you dress her up like this?
Peasant 1: No!
Peasant 3, Peasant 2: No!
Peasant 3: No!
Peasant 1: No!
Peasant 3, Peasant 2: No!
Peasant 1: Yes!
Peasant 2: Yes!
Peasant 1: Yeah a bit.
Peasant 3: A bit!
Peasant 1, Peasant 2: A bit!
Peasant 2: a bit
Peasant 1: But she has got a wart!
Random Person in the crowd: *cough* *cough*

Dude, I can't do this anymore for a while, I am laughing too hard! I need to go to the library.

i give this coaching staff credit, they make adjustments at half. that at the very least gives this team a chance to win, week in and week out.

One of the things that I am becoming increasingly concerned about is the zone pass coverage that ND is playing. I realize that our corners and safeties are not exceptional cover guys, so the coaching staff is probably trying to protect them by playing zone and keeping the receivers in front of them. The problem is that our pass rush is pretty anemic, which means that opposing QBs have too long to sit back and wait for their receivers to find the hole in the zone coverage. We've had some decent success with blitzing, but you can't blitz on every play. I'm concerned that the better QBs on the schedule will eat that zone coverage up.

Not sure what you are referring to Kmoose. ND played lots of cover 1 this past game. Backers seemed to have man responsibility in the first half except for the MLB. Second half seemed to be more of a base coverage for the backers, with hook zones, and they shut down the Broncos hard.

Hey didn't Kerry Neal have an interception, and didn't we have two for the day, which made about the third week in a row we picked at least two? Let's see, at that rate, over the season, that would be a case, wouldn't it? That's not bad.

Agreed, on all counts. Can you imagine what FOX would be able to do with ND football?

Ughhh, passs. I've had enpigh of Fox covering college with their terrible BCS coverage. Maybe if they actually put in the effort but i am glad the BCS is back on ABC

I'm not saying that the defense has been porous. What I'm saying is that the better QBs (like Barkley at USC, who is having a solid year despite how poorly the TEAM may be playing) just might be able to pick the secondary apart, if we can't figure out how to put more pressure on the QB. Western Michigan passed for 277 yards, and they aren't exactly a high powered passing attack. Against a good QB, this could come back to bite us in the arse.

Well, for what it's worth, I believe WMU is ranked 24th in the country in passing.

With numbers like this, I'm not that impressed with their 24th ranking.

CMP ATT YDS CMP% YDS/A TD INT RAT
Alex Carder 153 251 1567 61.0 6.24 10 9 119.4

Pretty good accuracy, but based on a short passing game (6.24 yds/att), for not a lot of yards, and damn near as many picks as TDs. Not bad, but certainly nothing special, and definitely not "high powered".

I insist on giving both my old school [WMU where I taught] and my forever school [ND] their full credit. WMU may be some look-down-your-nose stepchild from the wrong side of the tracks, but they are a good passing team with a good quarterback and a genius QB coach {Cubit himself}. Every year they have this same situation. The yardage ND "gave" to them was earned by very good check-down QBing in the first half, plus the bulk of the stats in the late game when we had non-starters in and WMU dominated the ball for 11&1/2 minutes of the fourth quarter. This was also the time when their best receiver beat our DBs for a meaningless 49 yard catch [by far their longest]. I hate to argue---really---but this cracking on our DBs is just wrong, especially using stats from the WMU game.

Who is cracking on the DBs?

Who is cracking on the DBs?

Inference.

If I called your defense not pourous but able to be picked apart by better offenses, would you feel worse if you were A) an offensive lineman, B) a defensive lineman, or C) a defensive back?

yea...I see your point. We give up some plays that way. I did notice we were in man a bit against WMU. Our corners looked surprisingly game in man coverage.

Consider though our red zone performance, and I think the coaches are ok with the zone...

That 277 is including 2 big plays against our backups that went for a total of 70 yds.

Thanks for noticing. But the Big E refs don’t wait till something happens. Inference; you know. It doesn’t matter to them whether it’s number 7 or 81 or which side of the ball the penalty occurs. A player throws his hands up, as if he may have blocked someone in the back and the ref 30 yards down the field throws a flag, when the one on top of the play doesn't. Just like when a player runs out of bounds and careens off a ND defender, he was obviously forced out, so he can come in bounds where and when he wants to catch the ball . . .

While I am on the subject, yesterday I likened Big E refs to “Kansas City whoremasters.” I have thought about it and I am deeply ashamed of my comments. It was unfair and over the top. So I would like to apologize to every Kansas City whoremaster out there. My comments were uncalled for; and there is no need to demonize you in such a brutal and unfair way. No way are you as bad as Big E officials! Please forgive me. It was an uncalled for act.

Back to you PHGreek! The difference between Bó fianna and me, and the Big East refs is, you are actually GUILTY as charged. (And most of them aren't really bastards). We don’t need to have such a good imagination or active fantasy life; we post on IE!

My concern was for the scheme, not the DBs.

We love ya' man. Not like these humorless empty headed animal food trough wipers. All the gloom and doom, serious personal putdowns, oh yeah and bad calls, got a good euphemism to call the refs that won't be an unfair insult to some other group?
