Losing sucks. Doesn't it? Let's not jump on each other. Especially me. I have FOUR nice legs.

thats true...i forgot michigan.
i can never decide between which program, usc or michigan, that i hate more.
theyre just so evenly matched in my hatred.

i think tonight i like the usc loss more because it just cost them a bcs bowl, and it's the first time petey has EVER lost in november.thats just a sick stat.
anyway we can try and offer him about 10-12 million per year to replace charlie?

Post game observations.......

I think you have to start with the officiating. It was really inexcusable. collegefootballnews had their instant analysis, and a lot of it was spent talking about the officiating. Not getting the timeout back was the worst officiating I've ever seen, the incomplete pass called a fumble was the second worst officiating I've ever seen, the one ball that hit the ground that was called a catch for the Pitt receiver was the third worst officiating I've ever seen, etc. etc.

Officiating doesn't decide games. I know that. But dammit it would be nice not to have to mention them after a close, tough game like this. They weren't the difference, but they did make a difference.

I would like to have seen AA run the ball quite a few more times. I don't know if he was replaced by Theo so often because he's not 100% or what. But his running was inspired. It seems like the team panicked a little early and abandoned the running game completely after the first drive in the second half.

I don't understand why this is such a 4th quarter team. What is it that clicks in the 4th quarter that seems to be missing in the first 3?

The defense looked great in the first half, but that might be a little bit because Pitt had some drops and fumbled snaps.

Right now, if it was me, my Charlie Weis job-o-meter is still pointing to "don't fire." But I don't think I can fight for him anymore. I don't want him gone, I'm just tired of defending him. When you have to defend your coach's job after every week, eventually you might just realize that it's not worth defending any more. It pains me to say that. Especially after I watch his post game PCs. The man is beat up and tired. He could really use a vacation. Hawaii Bowl, anyone? Just kidding. Kind of.

The team started slow again. The defense made a valiant effort but the inexperience and lack of playmakers on that side could only do so much.

The team once again waited till the 4th qtr to get going.

2nd week in a row that the o-line blew it on what could have been game winning drives.

This is just like USC, the defense tries to keep us in it. I started to doubt then the team comes roaring back only for utter dissapointment at the end.

it's going to be very hard to defend him now that his winning percentage is the same as the last two guys. and that's with our superior recruits. we have more talents on the field!

So lets recap. Again the offense was inept. The defense was swiss cheese as usual and the special teams were stinky. But its the players fault, no wait the refs costs us the game...

i turned the game off after the roughing the punter play. to me that epitomized the weis era and it's time for him to go. this team is never ready to play and they constantly have dumb penalties and their fundamentals suck.

Click on the LINK he provided and that YOU included in your response and you will.

I DID click on that LINK & what I saw was OPINION not based in FACT.

Lets look at the 1st drive.....

1st and 10 at ND 9 Armando Allen Jr rush for 6 yards to the NDame 15.
2nd and 4 at ND 15 Golden Tate rush for 5 yards to the NDame 20 for a 1ST down.
1st and 10 at ND 20 Jimmy Clausen pass complete to Golden Tate for 22 yards to the NDame 42 for a 1ST down.
1st and 10 at ND 42 Armando Allen Jr rush for 6 yards to the NDame 48.
2nd and 4 at ND 48 Jimmy Clausen pass incomplete.
3rd and 4 at ND 48 Timeout NOTRE DAME, clock 7:13.
3rd and 4 at ND 48 Armando Allen Jr rush for 8 yards to the Pitt 44 for a 1ST down.
1st and 10 at PITT 44 Armando Allen Jr rush for 2 yards to the Pitt 42.
2nd and 8 at PITT 42 Jimmy Clausen sacked by Jabaal Sheard for a loss of 14 yards to the NDame 44.
3rd and 22 at ND 44 Armando Allen Jr rush for 8 yards to the Pitt 48.
4th and 14 at PITT 48 Eric Maust punt for 33 yards, fair catch by Aaron Smith at the Pitt 15

Now granted the run game looked decent early on but still you're only averaging 5.4 yds a carry. So why in the hell do you call a run on 3rd & 22? Bad call.

2nd Drive
1st and 10 at ND 13 Golden Tate rush for a loss of 3 yards to the NDame 10.
2nd and 13 at ND 10 Theo Riddick rush for a loss of 3 yards to the NDame 7.
3rd and 16 at ND 7 Jimmy Clausen pass complete to Armando Allen Jr for 10 yards to the NDame 17.
4th and 6 at ND 17 Eric Maust punt for 35 yards, downed at the Pitt 48.

2 Bad wildcat calls now you're in a 3rd & long. Bad calling but I'll give you that one on the premise of testing how well they defend the wildcat.

3rd Drive
Notre Dame at 13:29 ND PITT
1st and 10 at ND 10 Jimmy Clausen pass complete to Theo Riddick for 5 yards to the NDame 15. 0 3
2nd and 5 at ND 15 Jimmy Clausen pass complete to Golden Tate for 8 yards to the NDame 23 for a 1ST down.
1st and 10 at ND 23 Jimmy Clausen pass incomplete.
2nd and 10 at ND 23 Jimmy Clausen pass intercepted by Jarred Holley at the Pitt 30, returned for no gain to the Pitt 30.

Already abandoning the run which was methodically moving the ball. Mistake was Clausens but was a typical go for jugular type call from Weiss when it's not necessary.

4th Drive
Notre Dame at 10:01 ND PITT
1st and 10 at ND 34 Jimmy Clausen pass complete to Michael Floyd for 10 yards to the NDame 44 for a 1ST down.
1st and 10 at ND 44 Armando Allen Jr rush for 15 yards to the Pitt 41 for a 1ST down.
1st and 10 at PITT 41 Jimmy Clausen pass complete to Armando Allen Jr for a loss of 5 yards to the Pitt 46.
2nd and 15 at PITT 46 Jimmy Clausen pass complete to Armando Allen Jr for 2 yards to the Pitt 44.
3rd and 13 at PITT 44 Jimmy Clausen pass complete to Duval Kamara for 14 yards to the Pitt 30 out-of-bounds for a 1ST down.
1st and 10 at PITT 30 Armando Allen Jr rush for 2 yards to the Pitt 28.
2nd and 8 at PITT 28 Jimmy Clausen pass incomplete.
3rd and 8 at PITT 28 Jimmy Clausen rush for 5 yards to the Pitt 23.
4th and 3 at PITT 23 David Ruffer 42 yard field goal GOOD.
David Ruffer kickoff for 70 yards for a touchback.

Granted it's 3 points on the board but you can clearly see the run is almost non-existent. No run game, defense dials in on your pass game. Mediocre calls.

6th Drive
1st and 10 at ND 30 Jimmy Clausen pass complete to Golden Tate for 11 yards to the NDame 41 for a 1ST down. 3 10
1st and 10 at ND 41 Jimmy Clausen pass incomplete.
2nd and 10 at ND 41 Jimmy Clausen pass incomplete.
3rd and 10 at ND 41 Jimmy Clausen pass incomplete.
4th and 10 at ND 41 Eric Maust punt for 19 yards, downed at the Pitt 40.

Absolutely no rush attempts. 4 & out ain't but one down better than a 3 & out. Bad calls.

7th Drive
1st and 10 at ND 17 Armando Allen Jr rush for 5 yards to the NDame 22.
End of 2nd Quarter

Did we forget Golden Tates amazing TD grab at the end of the 2nd vs Washington St already. For crying out loud 22 seconds is plenty of time & this is when this team thrives. Walking off the field was a horrible decision & left possible points on the field. Bad call.

8th Drive (opening of 3rd qtr)
1st and 10 at ND 20 Armando Allen Jr rush for 2 yards to the NDame 22. 3 10
2nd and 8 at ND 22 Armando Allen Jr rush for 9 yards to the NDame 31 for a 1ST down.
1st and 10 at ND 31 Jimmy Clausen pass incomplete.
2nd and 10 at ND 31 Armando Allen Jr rush for 11 yards to the NDame 42 for a 1ST down.
1st and 10 at ND 42 Jimmy Clausen pass complete to Golden Tate for 22 yards to the Pitt 36 for a 1ST down.
1st and 10 at PITT 36 Jimmy Clausen pass complete to Michael Floyd for a loss of 1 yard to the Pitt 37.
2nd and 11 at PITT 37 Timeout NOTRE DAME, clock 12:08.
2nd and 11 at PITT 37 Jimmy Clausen pass incomplete.
3rd and 11 at PITT 37 Jimmy Clausen pass incomplete to Michael Floyd.
4th and 11 at PITT 37 Eric Maust punt for 17 yards, punt out-of-bounds at the Pitt 20.

You can clearly see the run working early in this drive & then for only god knows why, is abandoned once again. Bad Calls

9th Drive
1st and 10 at ND 32 Jimmy Clausen pass incomplete to Theo Riddick.
2nd and 10 at ND 32 Theo Riddick rush for a loss of 1 yard to the NDame 31.
3rd and 11 at ND 31 Jimmy Clausen pass complete to Armando Allen Jr for 4 yards to the NDame 35.
4th and 7 at ND 35 Eric Maust punt for 20 yards, downed at the Pitt 45.

Obviously wrong personnel. AA has been moving the ball, why all the sudden when you're down 17 do you not go to him? Bad call.

I'm not one to typically play Monday morning quarterback but don't piss down my back & tell me it's raining. Don't post an opinion while blatantly ignoring the facts & claim it to be fact.

hi wabash you make tons of sense. how could anyone disagree...

bad call at the end.... not going to blame the loss on it however.

to those talking about the non interference calls were not interference the kid had position and did a great job.

have i mentioned i hate mark may? yeah well guess what :(

uconn played pitt ot the bitter end and could have won, i will not be surprised if they come out and give us a hell of a game next week.

the kid wasn't making a play on the ball, period. he impeded floyd's progress by jumping in front of him and basically slowed down like he was posting up in basketball. sorry bud, but that's pass interference.

Pretty much right on post. I don't get CW when things are working he just gets impatient and greedy and goes for the pass again. Pitt is the best pass rushing team in the nation and were getting good pressure with 3-4 DL. While the wildcat didn't work the two times we ran it that was because we picked the wrong option. IF you look at it we had big openings if we only made the right decisions. We didn't have enough 2 step drop passes to negate the pass rush. Charlie made a few nice play calls but lacked consistency. Too often his pass plays would result in a loss of some kind puttin us into 3rd and long. IF we run on first and second down we are left with either 3rd and short (2-3) or we have a first down. Look at our lineman, these guys are built to run block they are too slow to be effective pass bli=ockers against the elite pass rushers (Pitt & USC). Look at how USC was dominated in the run game by Oregon and Stanford, run, run, run. Some people might think that the running game is boring but winning is preferred. All these passing records being broken is not ND football. I think our offesnive statistics against Pitt are alot lower than most teams this year.

The biggest difference between these teams was shown before kickoff. Pitt plays are in a big circle chanting and swaying and for lack of a better term acting like college students ready for some fun. ND players are standing on the sidelines like the New England Patriots. They are all business. I like CW, what he has done for the team and I think he is a good representative of the university, but he hasn't learned the college football is about harnessing players emotions not scheme. We are either to tight or to flat. All work and no play makes for a tired lifeless team and that is what we have now ladies and gentlemen. Sorry to say this but its time to go home Charlie. Thanks for everything.

It was a very questionable call...but why did it happen in the first place? The reason was because our offensive tackles were getting beat!

Penalties have cost ND big time all season, and most of them haven't been bad calls. Players lacking discipline on the field should be the focus of the coaching staff and the fans, not whining about the calls.

I've always come down on the side of this discussion that says...if the refs have a chance to blow the game, you didn't do your job as coaches and players...

I will say I saw two calls in the last two weeks that sent me throught the roof...

First...Robbie Paris puts the ball on the deck against Navy...Robbie goes to grab the ball, but the ref BLOWS IT DEAD...Robbie stops trying to get the ball...the Navy guy picks it up...see the replay guys never should have had a shot at it, because the ref on the field blew the whistle before the Navy guy picked it up...replay it and watch. They all knew it, Charlie pointed it out...they let it stand...that to me is cheating.

Second...as NDMontana points out...the last call was wrong...how in the hell can the ball come out, in a forward trajectory for all to see, refs on the field see it...yet it gets overturned...I guess the replay booth has software to overcome laws of physics...they killed the drive (well them and Duncan)...I would say Jimmy had a chance, and they new it, so they took the ball out of his hands...that to me is cheating.

That said...we found a number of ways to put ourselves in a position to lose...in both games. I am convinced the loss to Navy combined with this flat performance sealed CW's fate...

The non call on Floyd was pretty awful and Baldwin did not catch that pass on 2 and 8. The ball was clearly on the ground.

You're right, that was probably it for Charlie.

I don't hate Charlie, but were going to finish 6-6, maybe 7-5 and go to a lower tier bowl, which is no better than last year. I'm sorry but he has to go, there is no more defending him.

This is right on. If anyone has ever heard Weis talk (pep rallies are a good example) he makes you want to take a nap. He got a good voice for broadcasting or something but he is not good at getting you pumped up to go hit somebody.

At last years pep rally Lou came to speak before one of the games and Weis introduced him. Everyone was pumped up until Weis started talking, then the intensity, excitement, and emotion completely dissipated. Then Lou did his thing and everyone was pumped again.

My point is, Weis is the one responsible for getting his team ready to play. If he's giving them the pep talk before they take the field its no wonder we come out flat in just about every game.

The NAvy game was a good example. The entire stadium was dead and emotionless. That may also be because we over-respect the service academies but that's a different matter.......

That is what I've been saying all year. Way too many stupid penalties at the worst time.
Plus I think it's very hard to win without a consistant defense.

that would be the (head) coaches job to put a very high priority on that
