The one thing that I haven't seen brought up that is concerning is the lack of production from the TE position. It seems like this would have been a perfect game to get some catches from them. Fuller was being double (even triple) teamed and they were doing well to stop our run game. How about throwing to the middle of the field to Jones? This is a position we can recruit great, not sure why it has not been a focus of the offense the last two years. I think it would take the O to the next level.

Overall, glad we can play so uninspired during Senior day and win comfortably. Let's take care of BC next week.

1. On the TV, particularly noticeable in the 2nd half, it sounded like there were 200 fans at the game. Maybe the quietest i've ever heard ND stadium throughout a game.

2. Disappointed with KVR and Luke both getting beat on big plays.

3. Wake Forest looked like a jayvee team

4. No turnovers for us! Yay!

5. Great to see the defense make a play and get a pick-six.

6. Prossise's value to the offense is immeasurable. Adams has been playing well and having a good numbers as a frosh, but with him as an every down back makes us become a more predictable offense. I guess Dexter Williams is not ready at all for every a few plays to go in on for a breather. We do not beat BC next week without Prossise.

7. Snap the ball on offense before the play clock gets under 5 seconds! Seriously! i'd love for a data geek to go back and calculate three sets of statistics for our team for the past 5 seasons.

(a) Medium length of play gain/loss when snapping the ball with under 5 seconds left on the play clock

(b) Medium length of play gain/loss when snapping the ball with more than 5 seconds left on the play clock

(c) Medium length of play gain/loss when snapping the ball with more than 10 seconds left on the play/clock.

This is why i thought Kizer looks good most of this season because we have a simpler playbook for him, less audibles at the line of scrimmage and quicker snaps. Every time the play clock gets down, it allows the other team to time the snap, our offense looks confused, and our offensive-line gets beat.

Happy for the win and the Seniors, way to brig back the home field advantage!!!

Anyone else scratching their head on what Todd Lyght is teaching the CB's? I feel like they are usually in good position but they rarely turn their heads around and locate the ball. Frustrating to see these guys giving up plays every week.
Lyght coached with the Philadelphia Eagles last year when their CBs were toasted week after week and were probably the worst starting CBs in the NFL. I am starting to wonder if it's Lyght.

My only guess is that it really boils down to the safeties really are bad in pass coverage. That's an nfl technique that seems to be big with taking away the back shoulder throws with the expectation that the safety is over the top for help

This may be wrong but I totally agree there is something wrong with our secondary play and we really need to get it fixed

With that said I think wake had a really good plan of attack on our defense and they executed pretty well imo

They're goal was to make that game boring as hell... Mission accomplished by them for sure

Ever get the feeling that BK is smarter than you?

Maybe I'm slow to this realization, but I'm pretty sure he coaches down so he doesn't play his hand.

We're going to have another 'ugly' win vs. BC then unload on Stanford.

I think we can beat anyone in contention who isn't Alabama.

The team was so lazy today. Unenthusiastic, no emotion or excitement. They didn't take Wake Forest seriously.

It's too bad the backups couldn't get game experience. Again.

There were a bunch of backups that got into the game.

CJ Sanders
Dexter Williams
Tyler Luatua
Nick Coleman
Nicco Fertitta
Nick Watkins
Greer Martini
Sam Mustipher
Jonathan Bonner
Hunter Bivin
Colin McGovern
Grant Blankenship

All of those non-Seniors got in. Plus, a ton of Seniors got in on Senior night.

Holy hyperbole Batman! A)We haven't played with anyone named Prossise all year long, but we have had a guy named Prosise and he has been pretty good.
B)I know BC's defense is legit but to think we won't win without Prosise? Crazy talk. We may not win with "style points" but how is BC going to score? I expect a similar outcome to this Saturday next Saturday. A lot of salty ND fans moaning about "style points" after a 3 TD victory.

We could beat BC with Dexter. Get real.

I know he is smarter than me, LOL. Who knows, maybe your right, vanilla game plan, show nothing and save it for tougher opponents. Honestly, my theory is these are kids in college, they can't have that same emotion and effort every week, they are professional students, not professional football players.

Win is a win....bring on Fredo.

I think we're saying the same thing?

Man up, buttercup!

BC's offense is averaging 17 points a game against a pretty soft schedule. They are only giving up 14.4 points a game, but again, against a pretty weak schedule. BC has played:

Maine W 24-3
Howard W 76-0
Fla State L 0-14
No Illinois W 17-14
Duke L 7-9
Wake Forest L 0-3
Clemson L 17-34
Louisville L 14-17
Va Tech L 10-26
NC State L 8-24

Not only do I think we would beat these guys with Dexter Williams starting, I think we would have a good shot of winning if Anson Williams was our starting tailback!

I didn't think is was an 'impressive' win. However the ESPN bottom line was rolling along with something along the lines of 'all top 4 teams win convincingly.' So there's that.

We're fine.

We will win out till we play Alabama.

If we don't play Alabama, we win the Natty.

#5 & 8 won by 5 or less to teams with losing records. 6, 7, 9 & 10 all lost. I don't think we have to worry about style points. Just keep winning.

Winning by 21 in a game that was never in doubt is good enough.. We don't have to win 77-0... Just keep winning and keep controlling games... All that matters.. The difference of us getting in is not beating wake 44-7 instead of 28-7

Good special teams play, no turnovers for touchdowns, and no dumb 15-yard penalties on 3rd and 4th down are the key. We aren't going to score a ton of points so I'd be thrilled with a shutout. BC hasn't been blown out in any game this season. They are an outstanding defensive team.

While watching the game, it looked like we were watching ND practicing. It appeared that the defense was practicing stopping the big play. When WF got into the redzone, it was a completely different defense. BVG let the dogs out of the cage calling really disruptive blitz packages, and we could stop them when we needed to.

Special teams we did not do a good job of flipping field position.

I thought our offense played well, but it was the play calling that was not good. WF did a good job scouting our tendencies, and they were able to execute on D which created too many 3rd and long downs for us.

WF played their bowl game, and we played just good enough for the win. I expect the same for next week....

Agree.
I don't get why our DBs are playing 10-15 yards off the line of scrimmage all day, and WF is playing nose to nose with our receivers. Not like we're up against a stellar crop of future NFLers.
Also noted that their DBs were pretty good tacklers compared to ours. Need to improve.

There were some plays where they had him triple teamed

They flat out decided they were going to make us earn it and give up no big plays and we were sloppy in our execution all day

Just happy to get the win

One thing that really concerns me about this team is how much we rely on big chunk plays. We don't produce a lot of 4-5 yard runs and 8-12 yard passes.

The playing surface worries me a bit. I went to the 2013 bowl game against Rutgers, but anybody could probably see on TV that the surface was slippery and it was harder for players to get footing. Kick-off returns, catches, etc., were screwed up. That kind of a game could produce turnovers that we can't afford. It also meant that we couldn't finish drives and had to kick a bunch of FGs. Hopefully it isn't a problem at Fenway.

My post game observations:

1) Thank You seniors!
2) A win is a win, but I felt we took WF too lightly.
3) Josh Adams does a great job at finding the open holes and 9 times out of 10 he makes something happen.
4) Nice to see Chase Hounshell get a catch yesterday.
5) 111 passing yards yesterday is a head scratcher.
6) Nice stat for Romeo Okwara getting 3 sacks in the game.
7) I give Dave Clawson an A grade of doing his best Pete Carroll impression. I thought Carroll went to coach for Seattle? You throw your hat twice, constantly whine at the refs that you didn't get a personal foul call on, and stand practically halfway out on the field. Yet no warning from the refs and ND gets a warning from the refs against Navy for BVG complaining to the refs. I don't get it.
8) I feel that Jaylon Smith HAS NOT played his last game at Notre Dame stadium.
9) Coach Kelly is going to have one heck of a decision to make next year at QB, well he will also have one heck of a decision to make next year at RB. No matter how, where, or with this team finds a way to win.

Go Irish!

There were 2 entertaining things that happened in the game...

1.) The 98 yard TD run

2.) The marshmallow fight we had in the student section

Other than that, it was the most boring home game of the year
