We have been having a crazy viral season and now China's demand for meds of all kinds is through the roof. Like the egg shortage caused by Avian Flu this isn't really something Biden or the Fed can touch.

In fact, our Tamiflu stockpile is being used so if there's any impact the government is helping.

FY 23 the US is gonna send $100 million overseas to support an "Anti Corruption Initiative." Putting aside the gross irony given Biden's classified documents and his son's business deals overseas, this is a joke and a complete waste of money.

So again I ask: is it beyond reasonable to take a fraction of that figure, purchase other countries' formula and distribute it to American families as a short term solution?

I think if you gave every American family 33 cents they'd roll their eyes at you. That money is a rounding error in the budget.

Had a conversation years ago about racoon hunting with a PETA rep. I pointed out how their population had exploded and was destroying too much corn. Her suggestion was for farmers to put up fences around their fields. When I pointed out the absurdity of that and that those critters can climb fences she said they still shouldn't be hunted, but she couldn't provide a solution. I asked her if she kills flies that get in her house. "That's different!" she said. Me: Why? They're also gods creatures. No response from her.
Cool story, bro.

That's cute, but no cigar. Every American family doesn't need baby formula.

How does foreign aid impact that? Our formula crisis was caused by protectionist dairy policies and an overly strict FDA. Money alone doesn't solve that problem. Telling the dairy industry to deal with foreign competition, and telling the FDA to approve products that make it through the EU safety regime would.

When someone reflexively only cares about an issue when it's convenient don't expect an honest answer. This singular time when the poorest people are suffering they decide to advocate for support for them. Similar to "we need to take care of our own before helping immigrants", but then they want to cut safety nets for citizens and deregulate various industries and workers rights are shit on.

At least it's entertaining to see them slowly discover what actually caused that issue.

What caused the crisis isn't up for debate. The solution is. The fact that our federal gov is willing to drop $100m to "fight corruption" for other countries while American mothers can't find enough formula for their babies is a gross misappropriation of priorities.

Convenient? Never in US history has a shortage of baby formula been convenient, and it never happened until last year.

When we're talking about a shortage of baby formula, it isn't broken down into poor, middle class, and wealthy. It's everyone. That the feds didn't have a workable plan B in place while sending billions to a foreign war that isn't ours is embarrassing and insulting.

The George Santos onion seems to have layer upon layer. It's bizarre, even for 2023. 8 years ago it's probably a massive story. Now it's just sort of in the news cycle.

In other news, I'm vetting the hell out of my congressman. LOL

The US has had its “social safety net” priorities inverted for awhile now.

Farm subsidies, water subsidies, tax loopholes, bailouts, bureaucratic malaise…cost of doing business.

Healthcare, childcare, affordable education…socialism!

I must say it has been entertaining seeing the Ayn Rand disciples continuously squawking about “woke” capitalism/corporations.

Healthcare/childcare/education are all plinko constructs though. Higher education is for commies. If corporations get more monies surely they will pass it down to me uwu, only the rich can innovate :)

This is clearly a fake video, everyone knows this was a lover's quarrel
I'd like to know what was really going on. There are a lot of odd things about this whole situation that don't make sense. How did this guy get past all the security measures (cameras, dogs, alarms, and etc.) if he wasn't an invited guest? If he was an invited guest, why? What's the relationship and what's going on? Gay lovers? Probably not, but a lot about all this and what was going on, who called the police, why Pelosi didn't immediately go to them if he felt in danger, and so on are all suspicious. Hopefully the truth eventually comes out.

Why do so-called conservatives believe everything is a conspiracy? Seriously.
