Evidently there was more than one dead person who won election. This line had me cracking up.

“While we’re incredibly saddened by the loss of Representative Tony DeLuca, we are proud to see the voters to continue to show their confidence in him and his commitment to Democratic values by re-electing him posthumously. A special election will follow soon,”

Brian Kelly might want to keep working on his new accent to blend in. Yeesh.

Some context may be needed.

In Louisiana, a former slave-holding state and one of a handful that sentences convicted felons to hard labor, lawmakers trying to get rid of forced prisoner labor ended up torpedoing their own measure. They told voters to reject it because the ballot measure included ambiguous language that did not prohibit involuntary servitude in the criminal justice system.

Per CNN Nevada still sitting at 84% counted. That's close to 24 hours with no change reported.

Boebert back from the dead… now up almost 400 votes.
Was hoping Bobo the clown would lose as that would be one fewer clown in congress. Her opponent would just be renting that seat out for 2 years and would lose to any breathing mammal with a (R) next to their name in 2024.

I believe that if Trump was given the choice of knowing with certainty of

1. Win the primary but lose to Biden

Or

2. Not run and have DeSantis win the primary and DeSantis wins over Biden

He would almost certainly choose number one. He’s got DeSantis on the brain.

I think he underestimates DeSantis' popularity. I'm guessing Trump still has the edge with most voters, but this isn't like Trump vs. Cruz in a primary. Attacking DeSantis is a bonehead move on his part, he's going to end up losing a lot of Florida voters and probably plenty outside the state too. One can only hope.

Dead democrats voted in chicago to throw Illinois for Democrat Kennedy in 1960.

Now dems have taken it further by actually voting for dead democrats in 2022.
That’s not a new phenomenon or an exclusively democrat one. If a candidate dies weeks before the election when votes are already being cast or ballots are completed what else would you do? You’re not suddenly going to want to vote for the opposition, you vote for the deceased candidate and send it to a special election.

Now being reported from Twitter that a new batch of 62K votes have been released. You want to stop the deniers? Then stop this type of stuff. It may be very legit, but it gives them ammo.
It's how the state's election laws work.

In Arizona, the GOP was telling their supporters not to trust the mail or drop boxes and to drop off ballots at polling places. Maricopa had 295K ballots dropped off on election day. That's 115,000 more than in 2020. Each one has to go through signature verification and be hand counted.

That's why it's taking so long.

California, Oregon, and Utah are all counting slower.

edit - Just saw that not a single election day drop off ballot has been counted yet in Maricopa. Tonight's drop will be from last weekend. This is potentially good news for Lake.

Weird shit. Nobody else was winning this election regardless. I'm kinda curious how other sites had the numbers now, maybe it was just a Google glitch.

The 13th amendment has an exemption for criminals as well, so Louisiana's vote aligns with the 13th amendment.

Section 1

Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

Do you think prisoners should get a paycheck for doing laundry in jail, and if so, are you okay paying for their labor out of your taxes?

I want to see ALL the prisoners doing some sort of work that will benefit the rest of society. Obviously they can do work to help the prison system function but I would like to see the inmates provide services to society as part of their sentence. There are many tasks they could do and it would also serve to give them a sense of accomplishment if administered properly. I wouldn’t have a problem of allowing this service to apply against there sentence if they work hard and show they can be an asset rather than a liability. It has zero to do with slavery.

He's so scared of DeSantis.
He knows DeSantis is a way better option than him and that the party now has seen enough to know they need to turn away from him.
Trumps damage on the GOP is now undeniable.
