Romney has 3 debates to dig himself out of a hole that gets deeper every day, so if he's going to win this election he has to:

1. Stop the bleeding by providing a plausible explaination as to why he alienated half of the courtry when he was addressing his rich friends.
2. Make a big splash with some big policy initiative (perhaps providing a few details about what loopholes he plans to close to make up the 5 trillion in new tax breaks he keeps talking about) without being so aggressive in attacking the president that he comes off as unpresidential

Either one of these is a steep climb, both of them would take an extraordinarily skilled politician. Romney is not an extraordinarily skilled politician. It's like Christie said on Sunday ... come Thursday there will be a new narrative for this election. That narrative will probably go something like this -- "I thought Romney had an outside chance, but this thing is over." Obama will garner at least 300 electoral votes and I wouldn't be shocked if Romney doesn't make it to 200, the way his inept campaign is going. The thing about the debates is that you are on a stage with the other guy and you can't win many arguments without specifics. The specifics of Romney's proposals will scare the hell out of most Americans.

what is "The National"?

I'm trying to think of a band that they sound like, but I can't. I used to describe them as Johnny Cash singing for a mello Coldplay song, but I don't even agree with that. They're just a classic rock band with a "big band" sound sometimes, and one of the biggest Indie bands in the world. Two twin Yale-educated guitarists, and arguably the best drummer and lyricist in the business. The music industry has gone corporate and all of the great musicians are usually "underground" these days, but these guys are giants and geniuses.

My guy friends love them, my girl friends don't. I assume it's because of his incredibly deep voice.

I never heard an apology from Obama. Ask bin ***** if he got an apology. Oh right, he got a bullet in his head instead. Romney would've stopped looking.

Lord help me I know I shouldn't go back to posting in this thread but...

So, its the Biden line..OBL is dead and GM is alive?

Sorry, but GM is bleeding out and AQ is alive and well (ask the surviving members of the Libyan embassy). That Romney item you mentioned is a discredited DNC meme, but I will respond with the knee-jerk R response that the intelligence community had shots at OBL 4 times previous and POTUS (nee' Valerie Jarrett) never gave the go ahead until time #5.

First time I've heard this. Can you explain or say where to read up?

Ok. Give me the link to the video where Obama apologizes to terrorists. Never happened.

He doesn't apologize to terrorists. He apologizes to other countries in 2009 when he took a tour around the world. He apologized for America's excellence and standard of living. This is common knowledge.

Be careful with the terms "common knowledge." When I use it at home my wife cuts me off for a week or two.
Very bad terms!

Why are only Romney and Obama allowed in the debates and not Johnson or Steil?

I for one welcome our Demopublican ruler.

If anything, he's busy apologizing to Muslim radicals who kill Americans.

It really takes an impressive amount of stupidity and/or ignorance to actually believe this. Why don't you show me the transcript or quote where someone "apologized" to Muslim radicals for killing Americans. In fact, show me the transcript or quote for that infamous "apology tour" Obama took. I will wait.

Don't blame me -- I voted for Kotos.

I do not know why I can't give reps, but you deserve a significant amount for that one.

I'm overwhelmbed by your knowledge and superiority in these subjects.

Strong, powerful words from our weakling in chief...

On the embassy...

"What we do know is that the natural protests that arose because of the outrage over the video were used as an excuse by extremists to see if they can also directly harm U.S. interests."
No, barry. It was a planned Al Qaeda attack. if you attended your daily intel briefings, maybe you would've caught that.

On the Fort Hood Massacre...

silence. it was deemed "workplace violence" as a muslim guy who screams "alluka akbar" kills 13 soldiers.

Don't even get me started on the mosque at the world trade center and how our president supports that garbage, either.

Two words we have never heard and will never hear spoken from barack obama: muslim terrorists

It was tweeted out by his admin and later deleted. Mentioned "offending Muslims and their religion." Isn't it cute that when they happily slit our throats and put it on Al Jazeera, it's our fault? And when some whack job makes fun of Mohammed

Why won't our pres. utter the words "muslim terrorist" and why does he support a mosque at the world trade center?

don't give me that religious freedom BS, either. there's 120 mosques in NYC to worship. muslims don't have a 1000 year history of building towers on their conquers, do they???

Sorry...cut that one off.

Some American whack job makes fun of Mohammed, they kill our innocent people, and we court and appease and play nice.

Those who demand all the tolerance turn out to be the least tolerant.

So there is no apology. You are just mad that I asked you to prove something that doesn't exist. Then you change the subject because you know you are wrong. I will play along, the Mosque is not a Mosque, it is a community center. And it is not at ground zero, its is a few blocks away from ground zero. You see there is already a mosque there. Also, religious freedom isn't BS, it is a protected right in this country.

How about Ryan saying he didn't have time to explain the Romney/Ryan tax plan and the numbers? If any aplogies are to be made, Romney and Ryan should apologize to America for running the most awful campaign in history.

Romney, for sure. I think he'd be the best President since Kennedy.

I'm not a fan, at all, of the military discussions he's had on the trail. I think they're largely to rally the base.

I'm also not a big fan of his immigration policy, but it's not the biggest issue this country faces.

If I'm going to trust a guy to bring efficiency to Washington DC and to turn the economy around, it's probably the guy with Romney's very impressive tract record.

Obama is the worst President in my lifetime, which is saying something for how bad Bush II was. Obama is, to be it kindly, an amateur.

Buster, with all due respect, that's the second time you've said this in the thread. Bush II was a disaster. I frankly wondered why McCain or Obama or anyone would want to follow that mess. No one was going to look good. I'm not defending Obama, I'm not a big fan of him or Romney to be truthful. I think 20, 30, 40 years from now the historians are not going to be very kind to Bush II.
