Anyone feel better about our win last weekend?

Only a little. I think this helps drive home the fact that this ND team has a very stout run defense combined with a quality pass rush. As the season plays out and other teams get into the tough parts of their schedules, this will become more nationally recognized. I believe it will only get better. Stamina/depth will play a big factor in November. This ND DL finally has quality backups that can come in w/o any fall-off in production.

No matter what, nothing will make me feel better about the way we lost to USF and UM, though. I'm tired of the mulligan games, year after year. I can't remember the last time ND trotted out a team that actually beat the teams they were supposed to on a regular basis. (I'm obviously still not over the first two games)

What this shows [to me] is that our defense has played probably the toughest offensive opponent schedule in the country so far, and STILL has one of the best resultants. { I mean, of course, accumulatively and up-to-now }. "All Hail The Defense".

Now if those other guys we have will just a little more consistent maybe we and everybody else in the nation will sit back and say: yes, I wasn't insane to think that Notre Dame was one of the better teams.

I think we all knew South Florida wasn't all that good. Pitt's defense legitimately stopped us and if we had lost, it wouldn't have been by beating ourselves, as it was in the South Florida game. Pitt is a legitimately good team, and I would be surprised if they don't win the Big East. South Florida is ok but definitely should not have been ranked 16. Hopefully, Michigan is exposed in the same fashion, and soon.

USF gave up 523 yards to Pitt and 508 to Notre Dame. Difference? Notre Dame had five turnovers, Pitt one.

2 Thoughts watching the game -first USF implodes and it makes Notre Dame's schedule weaker but heck we all knew Notre Dame was the better team even though I picked Lou's son to win that game. 2nd and more important to me how good does this make Notre Dame's defense look as it grows. They but a lead bag on Pitt's offense. Now they got to get a win against either Air Force or Maryland to get my 9 win season. I think they beat both soutern cal and Stanford.

I didn't know what to think of ND through 4 games, and this game last night just confused me even more.
