he does have height issues, but they shouldn't be calling deep outs unless they get Lenzy on the field (until he gets more accurate on deep tosses)

Yes, Alex Bars makes a huge difference. Best rated offensive player before his injury. VT has been stout against the run but they haven’t played a decent running team yet so no excuses for them completely bottling up ND.

I knew Foster would spy Book to prevent him from completing the scrambles & QB runs that Willis is doing vs ND.

IMO yes Bars did make that much of a difference. Can’t replace a captain and 3 year starter while going to hostile environment the next week

Our OC is continuing to call plays the QB is not good at. He did it with BW, he is doing it with Book tonight.

I mean, what's the answer tho? If there's wide open guys all over 30 yards downfield we obviously need to hit these guys, because the ones he's missing are easy TDs. I don't feel like he was this bad on deep throws the other games?

he's has not been perfect, but the OL has sucked,,,,, and the play calling has not played to his strengths. 10 percent on book. you saw what he did with scripted plays that asked him to do what he does well. and even the second drive... long needs to stop being cute and get back to what we do right.

Same when he overthrew Boykin for what would have been a first down in the redzone. Same when he missed Boykin deep on the outside. After the multiple deep ball misses I agree Kelly should have gone back to the short game but then Book comes out and throws a pick.

I think the good news is that Bud has already made the adjustment due to the strong start and some wide open (albeit missed) deep routes.

Long now has the opportunity to adjust. Let's see if he's going to earn his pay.
