The case made is interesting enough... but trying to imagine ND in the SEC is like trying to get my mind around a creature that is Half Man, Half Bear, Half Pig.....

the write up is a good one though... but I can't imagine how much this whole super conf. thing will change the way we look at cfb....

onething should be clear now... IF the SEC, Big 10 and Pac 10 all go "super" ND will join a conference some where just a matter of which conference

for about four years now the SEC has been a two team league and for the most part those two teams play no one but eachother, sub par SEC teams and DII teams.... forgive me if I'm not impressed by the conference as a whole right now...

Forgive me for hopping on the SEC badass bandwagon, but that conference has some nice teams.

I'm looking forward to seeing those "woo pig suey" chants when they take it this year, from Bama and LSU...

True that, they divide and conquer the hell out of each other.

Ole Miss is really gonna miss McCluster this season though.

Besides, weren't they the dark horse last year? Didn't even show up, did they...

Their supposed Top 5 lock QB had a TD-INT ratio of 1/1. 20 TDs, 20 INTs.

i heard about this rumor about 3 months ago from a BIG ga fan and here was his arguement. this super confrence thing is about money and ND brings it. they also would love taking use to the wood shed every year. better than beating vandy every year. now when i make this next statement dont get me wrong, i want things to stay the way they are.give me the sec over the big ten,big east any day. u have to play the best to be the best!

i would never want notre dame to join the sec but lets face easily the best conference
Florida Great
Alabama Great
LSU usually good sometimes Great
Georgia usually good sometimes Great
Auburn usually top 25
Arkansas can be top 25
Ole Miss usually good
South Carolina usually good to okay

When they go out of conference or in bowls they lay beat downs
Easily the best conference

ND in the SEC!? Some of the conferences should change their name. It is almost like the NFL, where Dallas is in the NFC East, and Indianapolis is in the AFC South. Perhaps, USC and UCLA should join the Big East.

ah, really? When you take away those "beat downs" on bowl sub division teams their out of conference record is far from "by far the best"

I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but I would love (if ND ever chose to do so) to see ND in the SEC over the Big 10. First, the games would be fun to watch. Second, we'd definitely open up our recruiting in the fertile SEC territories more than we can today. Lastly, competition breeds improvement.

I'm not advocating the change. I much prefer being able to schedule our own games. I like that we can bring in new opponents each season while retaining the primary rivalry games. However, if we were forced to join a conference, the SEC would be my favorite.

I concur Terry Tate.

I know the Big East and Big Ten would certainly be most plausible. I hope we stay independent and that we're able to do so forever.

But if we ever had to choose, then I'd hope for the SEC. I realize geographically, academically, and culturally the hurdles and obstacles the transition would need to overcome, but I think we'd open up those athletes that want to be in the SEC as well. The competition seems best there to me also.

actually in many ways I'm with Terry on this one... andit COULD happen...IF this super conf. thing happens ND WILL go where the money is... that simple...

and I'd much rather see ND in the Big East or SEC than the Big Ten... I think we'd do well long term in any of the three and that would burn some very hateful fan bases :) ... it would be more interesting in the SEC or Big East... and it would burn the hell out of Joe Pa.

that's a double :)

SEC is an interesting concept, but the concept of beating the best to be the best can be dangerous when it comes to football scheduling. I thought ND had become stupid for a while by scheduling the best every friggen week. You simply cannot play the best every week in football and expect to survive.

Creative scheduling.

You only have to beat the best once. Not every week of the season.
