ok

Why?

the smarter you are the faster you are. Is this true?

What makes a gifted athlete?
really? I would love to play your team.

Why would you love to play his team? Because of a his post on speed? You deducted all of that based on one post? If his team had better players than you then he'd beat you. Pretty simple.

See, if I were to disect you based on some of your posts, I'd surmise that you are an only child who was babied and spoiled by your mother so much that you actually believed that you werew the smartest, funniest, and best-looking kid in the school. You're the guy in the club who asks every girl to dance, and when the 22nd one finally says yes you think you're a stud. You're the guy in the stands who never played sports but tells his girlfriend the entire game what every single player and coach is doing wrong and how they're lazy and overpaid. You're the dude in class who we all want to punch in the face, the one that argues with the professor non-stop as if you know everything. Yup, judging by 3 of your posts, I KNOW all of that about you.

BTW, I've coached different sports for over 15 years. If we had even close to similar talent, I'd LOVE to play your team, not because of your schemes or anything. I'd love to play you guys because I know your players would hate your friggin' guts b/c of your enormous ego, so they wouldn't play hard for you at all. Easy pickings...

Because if his running backs are as quick as his lineman, like you said "easy pickings"

Stands? I run the whole operation.

My ex-professors are some of my best friends.

Yes, Im amazing. I worked hard to be this good though. It didnt come natural. Call it cocky or confident. I really could care less. Players loved playing for me and coaches like coaching for me, because I continue to further my education and work hard on ways to bring them the best.

You can continue to hate because I was having a conversation with someone else.

Hey, if you're so amazing, why don't you tell us what school you AD for, or what schools you have coached? You should have nothing to hide.

I coached high school for 6 years, and my record is out there for all to see on MaxPreps. And I also teach elementary, and I invite you to call my vice principal and my principal to ask them about me. I have nothing to hide. I'll PM you my school and the phone number.

Now, are you willing to do the same? Put it out there for us to see. Or PM me. But I GUARANTEE that you won't, because a real player doesn't need to brag about what he does every chance he gets. You ain't a playa kid, you're just a tool who nobody likes who ruins just about every thread he touches.

But hey, keep believing what you're selling. You'll be the only one buying it...

NDinLA, Nothing personal, But I really don't care to get to know you or what you done. Im not seeling anything, Science is science and people are taking it personal that I know alot about exercise science. I mean I didnt just get born knowing. I read alot and went to school for it. I just like conversation and questioning people. I also like people to explain what they talking about sometimes because they really need to understand what they are saying and that in contradicts proven science.

I think the fact of you not knowing kills you. Although if you ever visited my website, which I am not allowed to post on here you would see what school I work for.

What do you consider relative speed by definition?

i'm using the term "relative" because "speed" is "connected" to each one of us on an individual basis. just like when i teach my players how to jockey, they have to establish a cushion that is "relative" to the opponents speed and their own.

their speed is related to body type, size, strength.

Why would that matter? Please explain.

what is the difference in size between the two athletes we are referring to? cuz the load that sam young has to carry in comparison to what the rocket had to carry is considerably heavier.

due to the heavier load to carry and the fact that sam young's muscle are accustom to his "relative" speed, it would be next to impossible to improve that speed enough to match that of the rocket.

hence, shear size and build is what would prevent such an extraordinary event from happening. train the sam young's of this world all you want, he will not end up with rocket speed. i've been training kids for 20 years in soccer and i've seen enough body types, builds, strengths, etc. you can only improve upon their "relative" speed and that's it.

how hard is that to understand?

no...is that what I said??

However, you can make an argument that a 'smart' person processes information faster; and that may lead to quicker decisions made, which may result in improved quickness, but not physical speed. It may only result in being at the play a half-step sooner, but that half-step is the difference between success and not; College and NFL; 5* and 4* recruits.

What makes a gifted athlete?

someone who has natural talent, natural physical tools that other ppl dont have...example of a naturally gifted athletes: Bo Jackson, Lebron James

really? I would love to play your team.

bring it on...

Because if his running backs are as quick as his lineman,

specifically, I said that within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage, lineman are as fast as RB's, absolutely. If you have ever played on any line on any football team you know that to be true.

Lineup a dlineman and RB, have them fire out 5 yards, the RB will not outrun an effective dlineman. Now if you extend that 5 yards to 15 yards, of course the RB will pull away. But I was talking about quickness, not speed. (fun fact: raquetball is a great way for a lineman to develop quickness and cardio)

Have you ever wondered why end-arounds, sweeps, and options for the large part does not work in the NFL? its because the dlineman are too quick. Most of the time the play doesnt even make it to the linebackers, because elite dlineman (6"3" 300lbs) are running down those WR's and RB's trying to make it to the corner. In the NFL, RB's are generally told to run North and South, one of the benefits being to cancel out the dlineman and LB's speed and quickness.

I know, I know...is it relative speed or absolute speed that counts in football? When asked, Newton said, "What's football?"

Einstein said relative speed is determined in part by whether the runner is moving toward or away from you. If the runner is moving toward you, he appears relatively slower. When he is moving away from you, relatively faster.

When asked his time in the 40, Hawking said, "The chair tops out at 10MPH, so do the math and go ................."

I vote we close it. (thread)

I get irritated during the weeks leading to NSD when we don't get the fellas we need.

My outlet isn't some forum where a few claim to be exercise guru(s).

Leave it to the experts.

Longo Rulez.

I'm out...

Being a coach for 15 years, I would think by your comments that it is on the high school level. Being a former Notre Dame Football Player,I feel 2 things are misrepresented that a 40yd time is far different from football speed. Yes it's true we don't get the same athletes as other schools', but that a positive. Notre Dame is a Special place for student athletes. IMO I am glad we have our standards.
AlsMy second comment is that I think you are in denial if every player and coach loved playing and coaching for you. While I don't doubt most of them liked you, I don't feel each one respected you.

When I look at these recruiting info- stars - etc I am interested in the athletes catagory more than anything else. Thats why I think this coach gets it and has a plan. All these athletes can play other positions and as athletes they dont forget how to run even though they may be carrying 30 more lbs. Its the way to go and thats why he's interested in so many QB's. Dont think for a minute he's trying to go 4-5 deep at the QB position. These guys will end up at other positions helping the team WIN games. Go for 'gamers' who want to play anywhere. In the history of Notre Dame football the great teams had many guys who came in at a certain position and excelled at another for their college careers.
