The main issue is that the offense has been unproductive and shot the ball poorly for about a month, regardless of opponent. They are winning with defense + possessions. What's crazy is that they opener the game with 8 goals in like 10 minutes and then went ice cold for the remaining 50.

They only had 2 legit goals in the entire second half. One of those came from the younger Faison who they are trying to play more and more together a spark. I think the two attack besides Yago just aren't really winning their matchups enough + also aren't dynamic offball players which puts them in a bind trying to create quality shots.
How much would Jordan Faison help?

I think he’d be a huge help. They’re getting next to no production from middies outside of Jeffrey and Maheras. Having Jeffrey as a left handed dodger that no defender can stay with and Faison as his right handed equivalent would be tough to stop. And it would let them bump Angrick down to second midfield with some combination of Busenkell, Seymour or Finley, who he has had success with before.

Does anyone know what’s going on with Diaz-Matos? Hasn’t taken a draw in the last two weeks per stat sheets.
I've wondered the same thing...Just can't find injury news out in lacrosse at all. Obviously can't complain about faceoffs yesterday, but he typically has the quickest clamp, and would be really nice to get back down the stretch!

Looks like we're going to find out if Dylan Faison will make a difference. He got all of Finley's reps yesterday.

Yeah, definitely needed. Dylan is definitely slippery and motivated. Now start giving Busenkell's reps to Lally and see what the young guns can do. Unfortunately Busenkell just hasn't been the same since he got injured last year.

Latest information from insidelacrosse: gotta love the inside information here...lol
Spano Shines for Notre Dame in Diaz-Matos’ Absence
Through Notre Dame’s first six games, freshman face-off specialist Aidan Diaz-Matos was leading the Irish in draws taken. Then he missed ND’s loss to Virginia and win over Richmond. Junior Tyler Spano, a transfer from Washington & Lee, shined in the latter, winning 16-of-22, scooping nine groundballs and throwing an assist to open the game.

Heading into a KANE Media Poll No. 1 vs. No. 2 matchup featuring the Nike Midseason All-American first-team face-off specialist Brady Wambach on Saturday, the battle at the dot will surely be a storyline to follow. When asked about Diaz-Matos’s status this week, coach Kevin Corrigan said he was unsure whether the freshman would play vs. North Carolina.

Last I checked we were 2.5 goal favorites today which is pretty interesting...UNC has been overwhelming teams with the sheer number of possessions Wambach wins them (strong goalie play too). Hopefully Spano continues his recent strong play. Duffy has struggled against us in the past so I'd like to think as long as possessions are relatively even we should have plenty of opportunities. Curious to see if the introduction of Faison into the lineup last week was a sign of other changes to come or we run back the same group.

Looks like it's even odds now on Draft Kings. Was about to hammer UNC +2.5

1st Quarter offense was a complete dumpster fire. Still wasn't great in the 2nd but we showed some life. Cannot believe how well Spano has done....fun little moment on the broadcast where Corrigan said he was not at all concerned about Wambach lol. Defense is unsurprisingly as advertised.

When you combine the defense, Ricciardelli, and Spanos playing like he has been recently, it is going to be reeeeeeeeally hard to beat this team....

I don't have the stats but hard to believe anyone has better defense than ND.

How far of a run they make is all going to come down to the attack continuing to grow and getting more efficient clearing the ball. Really liked what Lally gave them today.

Great team defensive game yesterday and Ricciardelli was stopping everything.

Yesterday's attendance tied a record of 5,000 people.

Yeah, faceoff/goalie combo is such a massive thing! 100% championship level defense! They definitely need to keep getting better on offense. The talent is there, hopefully Corrigan doesn't tie their hands up and limit what they're capable of doing...which, in my opinion, he tends to do.

PLL Draft tonight at 7. Will Donovan is expected to go within the first 10 picks or so. Josh Yago recently got military approval to play this year so he might get drafted in the later rounds. Wouldn’t expect anyone else as most of our better players still have years of college eligibility.

Somewhat amusing that the midfield kept the offense afloat (relatively) today. Jeffrey's athleticism is a marvel to watch, and hopefully today was the day everything clicked for Faison! It was astounding how many possessions we managed to throw away without taking a shot in the first half. We tried to force it inside so many times and it just goes so poorly...man do I miss Jake Taylor.

Settled Defense is so impressive! Whole unit is literally a brick wall. Definitely still looking for answers on offense. Jeffries showing that he's a beast on his own, and Faison displaying why he was the number one recruit, and pretty much nothing else. Glad to see Corrigan giving some other players an opportunity. No one really showed anything, but at least he's sending a message to step your game up for whoever is on the field.

Yeah I would really like to see Lally get the lion share of the reps over Behrman but Corrigan has just seemed reluctant to pull that trigger. Also, UNC just hung 16 on UVA after scoring 5 last week on us- really cannot understate how dominant this defense is.

8 straight over Duke. Defense and goalie continue to excel. Got to get more from the attack + better shooting / finishing if they want to make final four... need to be able to consistently get to double digits.
Kinda agree re we're not going to go all the way with our offense the way it is but who's better? Who's going to beat us? Can't think of anyone that would be a clearcut favorite over us.
