Made the trip to Philly this weekend to see the Irish win a championship. Crowd was amazing on Saturday. Lynch locked in, Dobson refused to lose, Liam was insane, and Kavs are fighting like warriors. Hopefully Lynch stays in his zone, ND is healthy enough, the ball bounces their way today and history is made. Go Irish!

I think ND matches up pretty well with Duke. The one worry is faceoffs- if Duke dominates time of possession, that will be a problem. Hopefully Lynch et al can win 45% or more. But I don't think Duke will have an answer on defense. Their offense is not as good as UVA's, either. I like our chances.

And it is just true that the UVA game, with 'even luck,' is more like a 14-11 win or something. Fatigue is an issue, but both teams are presumably tired. People say the record of the second winner isn't great in the title game, but isn't that more likely because the 1 seed plays first?

If Kavanagh is close to full go (don’t think he is though from what I heard through the grapevine) and we get faceoffs like yesterday then ND should be able to control this game. It’s the unknowns/adjustments on short rest that can be a problem especially if ND can’t ride or scrap for GBs with a limited Kavanagh. They spent 1.5 quarters yesterday doing squat on offense because they didn’t know how to run their offense when their QB was on one leg and couldn’t dodge. They finally got it going at the end mainly by going through the midfield and using Kavanagh to his offhand. I feel like Chris Kavanagh will have to step up today as will Reilly Gray and Quinn McCahon for this team to have success… check their stat lines at half and I think it’ll tell a lot about how the game is going.

I don’t know a lot about lacrosse, but just watching this game develop it seems like Duke’s gameplan was to literally beat the crap out of us and into submission. Our Irish were ready and are countering the heck out of that approach. Just gotta keep on it for when Duke inevitably adjusts.

I know nothing but, our 1 v 1 defense looked great and our goalie is a stud. On offense we scored some great goals. Anyone with a clue got some insight?

That about sums it up. Duke can't hit a shot. More good defense than anything. We're playing out of our minds. 30 more minutes.

One worry is fatigue, which might set in more later in the game. We are also getting about half the faceoffs, which is huge. We have to keep managing possession. If we lose a bunch of faceoffs in a row our defense could get tired and things could spiral.

But there's not much to complain about so far.

The big issue here is that ND isn’t running good settled offense and there is no scenario where you just “shut out” Duke. You’re going to need 13ish goals to win most likely.

Reilly Gray is who they’re trying to initiate with and he’s not making enough positive plays. Kavanagh is not much more than a decoy right now. They’ve got to find a way to get Dobson or someone else going.

That was a very big blown call on the “playing without his stick” on that double. Turned into basically an extra two possessions for Duke.
