Is listed as Crist or Rees....
Thought it was interesting. BK knows guess he wants to tell us directly at his presser tomorrow.
when is said presser? will it be live on und.com? what did spots 3 and 4 look like on the depth chart?
why have 2 pressers and answer the same mundane questions two days in a row.
I'm with you. I meant maybe he would just leak it out on the depth chart tonight then discuss it at presser.
I think if it weren't Rees we would know already.
Wouldn't it be odd if what you did see was Dayne used in the alternative packages, kind of like what Charlie did with him in the Purdue game in '09 to help spell an ailing Jimmy. It just seems surreal that Dayne would just be relegated to a Sharpley-type role for the remainder of his final year on campus. (And if it's Rees-it WILL be Dayne's final year on campus)
I just got back and watched what was DVR'ed and have to admit that Dayne didn't play that badly when he was in there. Hear me out...
While he overshot a few passes, and had the interception in the end zone, he did put us in the right protections, set up the running game, and was plagued by a few drops.
More than anything, however, he looked scared to make a mistake after the interception. I don't know how he responds to Kelly being in his face on the sidelines, but his exterior demeanor makes it appear as if he is about to throw up. I (read my opinion is) think that he gives us a better chance to win because of his understanding of the offense, but he can't win if he is playing scared.
Discusss...
I don't know if you can pull the plug on a guy with just a half of football under his belt.
Rees is the game manager type Qb and I think he can have a lot of success as well.
In the end I won't be terribly upset who is starting as long as Kelly believes that Qb gives us the best chance to win.
There are several instances ('Bama, LSU most recently) where you have a QB that is just that, a game manager. Tommy does play with a quiet confidence that seems to energize the team and the fan base. Just play, don't make mistakes, and allow your defense to keep you in the game.
We had so many opportunities on Saturday...we have to take full advantage of those going forward.
70% completions---24-34---296 yards of passing- -better then all but a handful of Qbs that played a full game and played cupcakes--- led us to # 15 ranking in total offense---and TOMMY IS A GAME MANAGER!--The kid is an aggressive passer with a killer instinct and unflappable--Wake up and smell the coffee!---Rees is the real deal and will be running this team for a long time.
Some people have a hard time accepting Rees as our best QB right now, after all he was only a 3-star, and he has a "low ceiling". Recruiting ranking aside, he gives us the best chance to win, sucks for Dayne, but it's obvious.

Was he unflappable in the USC game last year when he threw 4 pics?
No one is bashing Rees, he is not you're prototypical Qb. Does that mean anything? No. He is a distributor reliant on short passes and yards after catch. It's a different playbook with Rees in the game. That's all I'm saying.
Now saying after saying all that, he could be just the thing we need

He was also a freshman who a month before was thrown into the job. He now has another spring and summer in the system, and it showed Saturday. He made some tight throws that Dayne wasn't making. Really he only had one bad throw (the second pick). I think Rees is more than a game manager and will lead the Irish to a successful season.
