I am sure O'Connell's Irish Pub & Grille on Campus Corner will be a favorite destination for Irish fans. If you see me there, I will but you a beer or vice versa....You will find the great majority of OU fans are among the friendliest in the country. Of course, just like any campus, you may find your over the top inebriated jerks!!!

Was it a Texas fan or an OU fan that had his balls sliced off at a bar by the opposing fan base a few years ago?

I've heard from friends that there's construction going on in the area, what's the best way to get to the stadium? I'm coming from I-44. My nephew has his 2nd grade championship game at 12 on Saturday, thank goodness they changed the time from 2:00 since we've got a three hour drive to make!!!

Also, where would be a good place to park since we'll be arriving between 4-5pm? GO IRISH!

That'll be rough parking.

I-44 from the NE or from the SW?

OK, if I am you, I do this:

I-44W until it hooks up with I-35S for a bit.

THE 35S/40W AREA IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION.

So what you're going to do after I-44 meets up with I-35 (theme park on the right) is get in the right lane and continue on I-44 Westbound when it splits from I-35. You'll exit right. It'll seem like you're not doing the right thing, because I-35S keeps going straight and I-35S goes to Norman. But trust me.

Exit to the right to stay on I-44W.

Stay on I-44West for several (about 4 or 5?) miles until you get to I-235 South. Take THAT exit. Should be a right exit, I believe. There is a little construction around there, but nothing like the traffic at the 35S/40W interchange.

When on 235S, you don't have to do anything until you're close to Norman. Just go by the Capitol and downtown, through the southside and through Moore.

Once you're getting through Moore, mosey over to the left lane.

TAKE THE HIGHWAY 77 LEFT EXIT. You'll avoid a lot of traffic this way.

Go straight through several miles of stoplights.

At Robinson Ave, the highway turned into "Flood Ave".

Go straight onto Flood.

Go about two miles and you'll be on the corner of campus, Boyd and Flood. Pay someone to park ($20-$25), and follow the crowd.

Detailed, I like it! Me and my brother went to Texas Tech '10(?) game and the exit lane to get on 35S was ridiculous! Thanks a lot!

When 235 meets back up and "becomes" 35S as you cross the river, you'll see all the suckers merging onto your highway from the left. That's the traffic you will have skipped.

Now, hustle your butt off. You're cutting it close to get parked. I'd give you advice on that, but you're going to be a bit late so I can't promise anything I told you would work. The lot we like usually fills up 3 hours to kickoff.

Lot of good info here, I encourage all of y'all attending the game to get there early and enjoy the tailgating--OUrs, that is.

Don't worry about messing with your own, just come and mooch away, you'll eat more free food and drink more free beer than you could in a summer of wedding crashing. We love to talk football with fans from other teams, especially ones who know what they're talking about. We can handle some smack, as well, all in good fun. :cheeburga

There's no liquor/beer sales in the stadium (welcome to the Bible Belt), so ya gotta load up beforehand, might as well do it on us, only fair.

As we say, "Y'all come, sure is good to see ya, didja eat yet?!?". :)

p.s.
link to tailgate site info/parking/seating charts/etc. from the official site...

I'm really looking forward to this game! I'm driving down tomorrow after work and plan to get to OU campus by 1:00. Where are the best places to park if I come early? Ideally, I would like to be somewhat close, but most importantly I'd like to be able to get out of there somewhat easily after the game. Looking forward to a good game and to meet some of you Sooner fans.

Getting out can be a pain. If you're coming or going on I-35, like most people, you want to be on the far NW or SW corners of campus to park. Avoid Lindsey Street at all cost.

One decent idea, if you're there early enough on Saturday, is to park in the Lloyd Noble parking lot and take the OU shuttle onto campus. That way, you can cherry-pick a parking spot that will get you OUT of the lot as quickly as possible so that you can take Chautauqua or Jenkins down to Highway 9 and get you to I-35.

Gameday Shuttle
The football gameday shuttle transports fans from the Lloyd Noble Center to The Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium every home game. A limited mobility shuttle is also offered. The shuttle runs continually, starting three hours prior to game time until one hour after the game. For more information regarding the gameday shuttle, please call CART at 405-325-2278.

Costs like $3 or something.

I would do this in a heartbeat if they offered the shuttle service earlier than 3 hours prior to the game. I kind of want to be on campus around 1:00 pm so I can soak up the game day atmosphere and maybe crash a tailgate or two. lol. Thanks for all the information. It's greatly appreciated!

If you want awesome parking, and are worried slightly less about getting out super fast, I strongly recommend parking at one of the sororities' lots on Chautauqua. You can walk to campus, and to campus corner.

Things to do:
- Campus Corner, which is on Boyd and is the northn border of campus
- Tailgating: walk down the main thoroughfare on Lindsey Street
- Don't worry about trying to sight-see campus areas south of Lindsey. The tailgate row is as far south as you need to go. Nothing interesting south of there.
