Wow the Lions got completely fuxked over. I wonder how much it costs to buy the refs in a playoff game?
If you need to ask, you can't afford it.

Anyone else think Aikman shouldn't do Cowboy games?

Report: NFL VP of Officiating allegedly seen on Jerry Jones' party bus - NFL - SI.com
PI on Dallas on a throw to Pettigrew I believe. Flag thrown and announced, then moments later announced it was being picked up. Defender never turned his head, there was contact, enough for a legit call, but as a Lions fan it was a no call to me.
EDIT: At that time DET still had the lead and was driving. Picking up the flag made it 4th and 1 and they had to punt.
It was definitely a close call but I don't think there should have been a penalty. While there was some contact, it was as much initiated by Pettigrew as the defender if not more so and the ball hit the defender square in the back.

Close, but no. The ball was under thrown, and pettigrew went back to attempt to catch the ball. The defender's head never turned around and was not playing the ball. Pettigrew has the right to go back to the ball. Contact was made, Therefore pass interference.
Even Mike Pereira thought it should have been called.
I understand it being called because it was by the book PI. But in a playoff game, and with just a little contact some of which was the defender with his hands up, I understand the no call. My problem is that the flag was thrown, announced, then some time later taken back. Thats BS. I would have understand a straight no call. But the way it went down was iffy. Like hey, why did you throw that. We need the Cowboys to win.
Didn't see it, but it sounds like Dez Bryant ran onto the field without a helmet to complain. Should have been a flag, no?
I wanted to write this a hundred different ways. But the facts remain the same...
That play is called defensive pass interference 17 weeks out of the year. And what Dez did, coming onto the field to argue a call with the refs, afterwards is against the rules as well.
Maybe it doesn't change the outcome, maybe it does. But the fact of the matter is, the game was not played to completion in the matter it should have been, by the letter of the law.
I agree. But my reason for being OK if the flag was left in the pocket was it looked uncatchable. Under thrown and he was reaching back for it but was falling away from the ball. To me it meant the ref would have changed the game. Dez on the field, I didn't see.
