I haven't seen much preseason NFL so far but what do you guys think of the new officials? Do you think they are doing better or worse? Do you think they will put pressure on the regular officials to call better games? Any chance of the new guys replacing the old? What are your guys thoughts?

From the few games I have seen... worse. Much worse. They are making very obvious mistakes.

It's been pathetically awful. And the worse they are, the better for us b/c the NFL will HAVE to settle with the refs after watching all these pathetic performances by the refs.

There are a ton of things to complain about, but the worst thing is that they simply don't know the rules well enough. There was a hold yesterday behind the line of scrimmage that the refs marched back 17 yards. WTF??? And today, after blowing a TD for the Colts (should've been at the 1 inch line if it wasn't a TD, instead it was at the 1 yd line), on 4th down Andrew Luck goes into his slide at the 1 yd line, should've been down by rule, and not only did they give him a TD, they didn't even review it. I'm sure it's hard for them, being thrown into the fire like this, but it'll kill games if they let these guys ref when they don't even know all the rules...

Why the NFL can't take their untold billions in revenue and pay the officials is beyond me. The greed and money grubbing in sports sickens me.

Yet I'm part of the problem because I'm overly obsessed with it. Oh, life.

You would have thought they would have picked replacement refs from somewhere other than pee wee football. I wonder if the replay officials blew the call in the Packers game to give the talks the bump it needed to get this resolved?
