Denbrock has spent 11 years of his career at ND. LSU is essentially his only job outside of the midwest, outside of a brief stint at UW. Have to think a move where we handed him the keys the O + a blank canvas would be attractive. BK's offense will always be BK's offense.
This is the right way of thinking about it. Denbrock has the experience that Parker lacked. He was also with Freeman at UC under Fickell for four years. So it's a buddy hire and that's going to make people pant piss, but I think in terms of that consistency Freeman talked about it doesn't get much better.

If Denbrock left LSU for Notre Dame, the odds are he would stay as long as ND would have him. He's pushing 60 and it would not be for money considering he turned down TAMU.

So who are some candidates that are TE/OC candidates? Other than the Georgia tech dude?

I'm a pass on Liam Coen.

Kirby Moore has Petersen and DeBoer ties. Hardcore yes.

I don't know much about Faulkner.
Faulkner turned around a Georgia Tech offense that was quite bad and made it very solid. Also massively improved Haynes King and turned him into a good dual threat QB. I don't think he'd be my top candidate, but if he winds up being the guy I think ND is in a very good place.

That's the type of stuff that we need for Riley Leonard.

Loy is going to bat for Denbrock. Feel like Freeman has him in his crosshairs. If ND poaches Denbrock it is a sign that they aren't fucking around anymore because it's going to get expen$ive.

Pretty sure LSU won't repay the favor to ND by waiving Denbrock's buyout clause like ND did for Kelly.

agree. sometimes folks get an optimum candidate in their head and consider everything else a failure. faulkner would be a solid hire and an improvement imo.

I've talked myself into getting very fired up for Denbrock. He's a great relationship guy as well. Makes him a solid recruiter. Golden and Denbrock running the show while Freeman focuses on talent acquisition is the way.

Forget about the young, sexy hires. Freeman is the young sexy HC. He needs to surround himself with great football coaches.

sarcasm aside, i'm not crazy about denbrock, but it wouldn't be a bad hire. he's had an up and down career, but he would prolly bring some consistency to the position. hope he isn't just generational player type fool's gold.

Haven't seen many making this point, but it's important.

The new OC is going to be #3 in 3 years. Granted, coaching turnover happens and having coaches move upwards is a sign of a good program.

However, it'd be very nice for this next guy to be around for the next 3-5 years if he does well.

Yeah LOTS of smoke with Denbrock.. wonder if he was like OC in name only at LSU and here he would be given the reins of the offense

All of the above.

Brian Kelly left ND for LSU because he thought it would be easier to recruit and win a championship. The wind would be at his back. The optics of taking his offensive coordinator after Jayden Daniels winning the Heisman is a PR dream. I don't care who you are, that is an eyebrow raiser.

Assuming Golden stays put once the NFL Carousel comes to a stop, you have Denbrock who was UC OC under Fickell for four years while Freeman was DC there and you have Golden who has already been entrenched at Freeman Notre Dame since Freeman took the job. That's levels of experience and in game decision making that everyone here has talked about Freeman desperately needing, and guess what: he's going into Year Three so he's not only learned from his mistakes but he's going to learn more with two seasoned consigliare behind him.

I'd love to see this be Denbrock for a variety of reasons.

This wouldn't shock me. We know how BK is...he can't help but be pretty heavily involved in the offense.

Also feels like the kind of hire that would help develop DMC/Gino and include them more in game planning.
