We played like shit! The defense SUCKS, Tenuta is SOOOOOOO overrated its pathetic. Will the next defensive coordinator please stand up please stand up. Defensive line SUCKS, Linebackers STINK, Defensive backfield (Which is supposed to be great) Stinks, We ALMOST lost to a Purdue team that lost to Northern Illinois which got beat by IDAHO!!!!! FUCKING IDAHO!

Anyway, Have I told you lately that.......WE GOT LUCKY last night. I'm not going to take anything away from Jimmy cuz he won us the game. Realistically we could be sitting at 1-3 right now but alot of you dont look at it that way. Oh the offensive line SUCKED BALLS last night as well. Sam Young.........(like I said last week and got shit for).......YOU SUCK and may have a seat on the bench please cuz you are one of the BIGGEST FLOPS ever to step foot on Notre Dame.

On the bright side we are 3-1 and Jimmy did what he had to do and congrats to him. He must really love Charlie.........Good thing SOMEONE does cuz I sure as hell dont.

dude, i always listen. i am numb right now. hopefully this team gets some of its health back this week and we can scheme for UW. it's going to be another war next saturday. i just hope charlie will gradually let dayne play qb when he's in the game. teams will simply stack the box now and force him to pass. if he's going to be out there, at least allow him to mix it up.

Its going to be a VERY tough game next week. I just did not like the play calling last night. That did NOT look like football. The "wildcat" shit can go to hell if you ask me. It works good that 1 time out of 10 but thats it. I'm so confused. Even with Floyd and Allen and Clausen all hurt we have the talent to beat Purdue by alot more than we did.

The offensive play calls were High School and the Defensive coordinators all need to be fired plain and simple. Nothing like having the 102nd worse defense in the country year in and year out.

NDOM I am sorry I know you are high all the time but what game were you watching. Minus the first drive of the game our defense gave up a total of 280 yards. Our defense got the job done today. This Purdue offense put up 54 against Toledo, 36 against Oregon who just beat #5 Cal 42-3, and has the 2nd best statistical runningback in the nation. here is purdue's drive summary after the first score.

Punt
Punt
Punt
Punt
Turnover on Downs
End of Half
Punt
Passing Touchdown
Interception
Passing Touchdown
Fumble

We held a RB that coming into the game was 2nd statistically in rushing yards and rushed for 125 yards against an Oregon team who just held the best RB in the country to 55 yards to 67 yards which was aided by a 26 yard run. Our defensive line actually looked like a defensive line today.

In Young's defense - never saw his hands on that hold - never even saw his arms on the replay. He manuevers people to the ground (i.e. UM) and gets called. He manhandled both of them and the refs think: you can't do that without holding. I just saw him put them down. Maybe I don't know all of the rules. Now: Pulling out of stance? That has to stop.

The defense missed a lot of tackles and kept Purdue in it for too long, but they were much improved.

I agree with the the offensive play calling 100%, but I'm going to have to go with notredomer23 on the D. Charlie did nothing spectacular that game and put in Christ as a wild cat type QB when he's not. I am so tired of his sh*t. He seems like he doesn't understand the concept "keep em guessin". Instead he likes to try somthing and stick with it for (3) plays in a row. For the love of God switch it up!!!! Definitly lookin high schoolish!!

and NDOM seriously if you want the wildcat to go to hell thats just retarded. It accounted for over a 100 yards in the 2nd quarter.

I thought the play calling was PHENOMENAL for most of the night. In the 2nd quarter, Purdue had NO FREAKING CLUE what was coming. It got stale in the 3rd quarter, but because Purdue caught on and we didnt have a healthy passing quarterback to go to (until we absolutely had to) If Jimmy was healthy and we mixed in Dayne and the wildcat, Purdue would not have stopped us all night. And for those of you who dont think Dan can run, you are flat out wrong. He is a mobile quarterback, he was in high school. Is he Pat White? Hell no, but he adds that dimension.

Did anyone see early in the game the graphic that showed our top 4 players, and they put an X threw three of them? A hurt QB, our best running back out, our best wide receiver out. Night game, on the road, against a team who had the 2nd leading rusher in the country. And we won. Good god people. Did you see all the teams that lost yesterday? College football is about survival. And I dont want to hear about Northern Illinois losing to Idaho, and Purdue losing to NIU last week. Are you all infants? Do you not have any memory? Teams like MSU and Purdue play us tough every year. This isnt anything new. Grow up, we got a win, celebrate it. Some of you are so miserable it really makes me think twice about even coming on here anymore. Maybe its time to take the show somewhere else.

Also 1 or 2 plays from 1-3.

Yup...both MIS and Purdue QBs missed guys late in the game for sure Touchdowns...

...And yet again we took one Athletic player from the other team and made him and his QB look like All Americans (Smith)...

Love the heart of these kids...scheme or their execution sucks...especially down the stretch...

There are always some good points...but alot of those punts/the over on downs were due to Purdue's lack of execution...not becuase our guys were in position to make a play...that bothers me...the int was ok, but had the QB put the ball where he needed to..that was 6...now some of that goes to a little pressure, but most because the QB hurried the play from the snap...

NDOM, buddy, it's one thing to say you don't like the Wildcat...that's fine, but don't over-exaggerate or straight-out lie and say it doesn't work. It killed Purdue for 2 straight TD drives in the 2nd quarter, and in the 3rd quarter it kept their defense on the field for 12 minutes out of 15!!! Yes, we didn't score that quarter, as we couldn't pass for crap and Kamara was busy either lining up wrong (twice) or dropping passes (twice). Dude, the Wildcat completely changed the game.

As for the defense, like I said an another thread, we need the best athletes on the field. That means Manti Te'o needs to play instead of T. Smith, who is pathetically bad. But the D-line actually did things yesterday, esp Ian WIlliams, Kapron and Johnson.

And BTW, Oregon just beat the #6 team in the nation to an absolute pulp, giving up just 3 points, zero after the first drive. Purdue just took Oregon to the wire, and scored 36 points on them, while we gave up only 21 (14 after that pathetic first drive).

Yes, we are 1 play from being 4-0, and yes, we are a couple of plays from being 2-2 or even 1-3. But we're not any of those...we are 3-1, and I for one am happy that we escaped with a win with so many key guys ailing. Yes, we have warts, but we'll just have to hope they figure these things out on time for next week's shootout. I slept well knowing that our record is 3-1 and we're still alive for a good bowl game, no matter how fleeting those dreams may be...

Like I said earlier...there are always good points...that was an accomplishment...our guys really play hard...but there are always things that appear to me to be chronic issues we just cannot stop...teams with an athletic guy exploit us, and we usually don't stop 'em.

I appreciate the focus on the positive PA, but the focus of my criticism is about assessing our ability to compete with the top tier in the nation...always

I'll try to sprinkle in some more compliments but...our D's performance laltely does not make me think we'd beat top tier programs...don't know what you think is "good enough"...but what I see is not.

You can't seriously tell me our D's performance against PURDUE makes you completely comfortable ...come on now, be honest, you're amongst friends...

MI State QB overthrows running back in the back of the end zone...All alone

Purdue QB hurried a play...bad pass, walls picks it...he throws that even remotely on target, thats 6.

the only thing i care about is that they won. you have to remember this isn't the NFL, we don't have top talent at every position and they all are still kids. they are also college students who may have failed a test today in class, and now that is in the back of there mind because they still need to pass class. so now that makes them one step slower or whatever it may be. basically i guess what i am saying is alot of them are from 18-21 years old and aren't always 100% focused, its just how college works. that's why top teams get upset, it happens to everyone. now the rebuttle will be, "well top teams are always focused" but this isn't a top team yet, thats already a concensus. and even the "top teams" lose focus at times, like i mentioned earlier.

i don't expect perfection from them ever, would i greet it with open arms of course, but every team makes mistakes. if they can over come those mistake or poor play and still win. what more can you ask for. we are not a team yet that can put 50 up every week and hold opponents under 7pts and less than 200yrds a game. it's just a fact, but this team is showing that they have enough heart to be in every game at all times, and pull out a win.

Aren't most int's usually bad throws from the QB?
As far us being "1 or 2 plays away from 1-3/4-0" you could play that game forever and ever and drive yourself nuts. We're not 1-3 and we're not 4-0, we are 3-1. The defense looked a little suspect this last game but I think overall we performed a lot better than in previous weeks.

Was the play calling really phenomenal? Come on now, it hasn't been phenomenal all year, good not great. Purdue didn't have a feaking clue what we were doing??? Really! Is that why they forced a punt so many times. Were we watching the same game? Charlie has shown a lot of different plays and styles, but he takes one and sticks with it for a whole drive or quarter. If he took all the plays and switched them around in a single drive we would be unstoppable, but he did NOT.

No...bad decisions about coverage mostly, not necessarily at this level a bad throw...can be though...

late in the game we should not forget to cover guys, or get beat deep...we've done our share of both...

I understand the futility of this discussion...can do this until ...well...next saturday...then next sunday we'll do it agian...see ya here.

Because he couldnt, he didnt have a healthy passing quarterback. That 2nd quarter was brilliant. Purdue had no clue how to stop us

I'll give you the 2nd quarter, but there are 4 quarters in a game. Does no one have faith in DC; he looked good every time he passed the ball, which was very few. He IS a healthy passing quarterback! I would recommend checking out the army all-star game a couple of years ago, he would be the one bombing it to Floyd in the end-zone.
