Damn......if we get recruits on campus, our chances go WAAAY up. The gameday experience is a beauty to behold. Just like Johns baby, except cleaning up after a game is less messy.

I attended my first game last year. Even though it was November and freezing cold, and even though I've already graduated from college and post-grad years ago, my wife had to pull me out of the admissions office. I even had them checking my eligibility.

So I have to concur, getting on campus is a big difference maker.

This team is going to be so stacked over the next couple of years!! I feel sorry for the rest of college football.

That's the way it always is. No visit = no commitment, but if you get them on campus especially for a gameday you never know what'll happen and usually as long as they're not turned off by ND (Sabino) then ND will be right in it untill the end.

Tonight on the Irish Eyes power hour, the scouts said Virginia might make a big push for him. If he is no longer taking a visit there, then I'd say that's good for us.

Just saw some pictures of his Notre Dame trip seemed to enjoy it but not as much as his parents. He seemed pretty happy when he was with Charlie

FYI, contacting recruits via MySpace, Face Book, Everyone's Connected, etc. is a recruting violation. Kentucky got in trouble for it a year or two ago with their basketball team.

Is that true for fans in general, or just for students and alums? (I'm just asking.)

Its true for fans as well, especially if you are a season ticket holder. UK self reported twice last year in the recruitment of Patrick Patterson. Fans were offering enticement such as we have hot KY coeds, offers to hang out at keenland, and other trivial statements that no one would take literally. UK also launched a campaign (mainly on their website and fan sites such as catspause.com) to tell the fans to stop contacting recruits. Patterson received something like 12,000 hits on myspace and facebook; comments, request from UK fans, etc. UK fan is extremely rabid when it comes to BBall. At that time of the patterson signing, there were 19,000 fans on catspause.com alone, not counting the other UK sites.

Bottom line, one day the NCAA will figure out a way to penalize a team for this, and I cheer for two high profile schools, ND and UK, and I don't wanna be the first.

GoIrish41, USC already has agents contacting their recruits. Unless you've got big money you'd better leave that to the pros.

It was my attempt at humor and maybe a little bit to show how silly I think it is to say that fans cannot talk to recruits. It would be completely impossible to enforce a rule that says this because anyone can say they are a fan of any team to get that team in trouble. Unless you are offering something to the recruit in return for him committing, I don't think anyone can do anything about a fan contacting a recruit. I mean, where would it end. Can an Irish fan who goes to the recruit's high school get ND in trouble by telling the kid to commit to the Irish? Doubt it.

Jeremy, just be glad we're not like some other sites where on a daily basis someone post that they heard so&so was de-commiting. Just relax I think will be hearing good news in the not so long future.

That's interesting. Great topic of conversation... are you sure it's fanbase and alum and not just boosters? If the NCAA wants to police that, good luck to them. I'll look into it...

Just got my answer from a coaching buddy... it is considered illegal by the NCAA. Old news I'm sure...

Walker should go to ND
