As a former resident of the SB area (my parents still live in Granger since we moved there in 1989, where I lived until college), here are some of my recommendations on one of my favorite pastimes (eating):
Eddie's Steak Shed (Granger, a true "midwestern"-type restarant), Uptown Kitchen (Granger/Mishawaka - good breakfast, you may liken it to some restaurants in LA), Barnaby's (Mishawaka/SB - known for their pizza, big time local ND hangout), Lasalle Grille (SB - a "fancy" restaurant - i.e. if you live in SB this is where you go for prom dinner), Tippecanoe Place (SB - another more upscale and unique location, it is very popular for brunches on holidays), Rocco's (SB - Italian restaurant, a SB/ND landmark, although not my personal fav, still extremely popular), Redamak's (New Buffalo, MI - burger place, I thought of this when i saw Wooly's post regarding MI, it's about a 30-45 min or so drive from SB but worth it. I don't know if it is still like this since it's been several years since I've been there, but they used to only be open in the warm months and closed during the winter, so plan accordingly if you go there).
I went through grade school at Christ The King and high school at St. Joe, so let me know if you have any questions on schools for the kids (don't know if you have any). Feel free to PM me with any questions.
Welcome to town!
oh yes. redamaks is still there and amazing. take a bite of a legend!
