Stanford is favored by 3 and a half. But that is essentially what they give you for home field advantange.

With the way this season has gone I really don't know what to think: I'll just say that Stanford is pretty darn bad. They had that one three-game win streak, but they've lost handily to a bunch of mediocre teams since then. They're ranked 106th in both total offense and total defense ... not much better than Duke.

ND is 2-0 when I'm at home or in South Bend this season, and I'll be home this weekend. There is no way we can lose.

CW needs to get these kids fired up. This is their last look at an opponent for a long time. This game will leave a taste in everyone's mouth for a long time too. This is our bowl game and we need to come out with passion and self respect.

Having said that, will it be televised in Maryland?

I'm glad that they are a "dog" this w/e. I wish that the spread was more than 3 1/2 .... less expectations that way! :)

I wish the spread was 10-14 so I could bet the house and everyone would have a merry christmas.

TV is supposed to be on ESPN2 at 3:30 PM ET / 12:30 PM PT as far as I know...

As for the game itself? It all depends on whether or not this ND team can take the first positive offensive-led victory and build on it. I was really struck by how the team seemed to change after the Duke turnovers gave them a lead at the end of the first half. It seemed like that missing element all year - confidence - was finally on the field. Whether it was Hughes running or Dule's crappy tackling or just good luck for a change instead of the usual Murphy's law season average, the ND team in the second half was in firm control of a game for the first time since Army LAST November!

I think Stanford shot their load against USC....in the minds of most in that program, that one upset win and teh game against a suddenly beatable looking Cal team are the entire season for them. This game against ND does not really mean much....

I look for Jimmy to remain unbeaten as a starting QB in the state of California, grabbing his second win in the state this season!

I actually look for another blow out as long as we start fast...if something bad happens on that first drive, I say we lose a close one!!! These kids have no confidence right now...so when things go wrong you can see it..."Here we go again"

I hope last week's game will break them of that "here we go again" mentality. Against top teams, mistakes are deadly. Against teams like Duke or Stanford, they aren't the end of the world. Even against top teams, you still play the game doing everything you can force the other team to play perfect football. If you force a turnover or they make a mistake, you can then capitalize on it and you're back in the game, IF they don't have that let down.

But, let's work not to make the mistakes and we won't have this discussion.

I wouldn't get my hopes up regarding how hapless Stanford appears. They always get up for ND...even the week before the Cal game. They have a legitimate shot at claiming a victory over both USC & ND in the same season (& maybe the Hat Trick w/ a win over Cal).

Ostrander will have little problem picking our defense apart....I think he's an 8th yr. SR w/ very experienced receivers. Hell, he almost led them to victory over the '05 ND team.

Back on the kool-aid, I think we win this one 31-21. Look out San Diego State, ND will have a 2 game win streak by then! I can't believe the season is almost over. I don't have the energy to talk about this past pathetic season for the next 7 months. Ugh.

It will be tough for CW to get the guys fired up after such a tough season, but hopefully we can take some of the momentum from the last game, along with some of the poise Clausen has shown the last few games and end the season with a win. The guys need a win to have something to build on in the off season. However, Stanford will be fired up wanting to be the team that drives the final nail in the coffin. Should be a good game. GO IRISH:clover:

Since this is the first game I am missing, and not recording for the past 9 years, because i will be at a basketball tournament, I am predicting-

JC throws for 300 yards and 4 TDs
HUUUUGHES- 90 yards on 14 carries for a TD
Allen- about same as Huuuughes, except no offensive td but returns at a kick for 94 yards
Aldridge- doesnt play much because is hurt
Kamara-over 100 yards receiving, TD
Carlson-2 Red Zone TDs
Zibby returns a punt for a TD

We win 52-17, Stanford getting 2 TDs in garbage time

Man I will take a victory, I don't even care if it's a 1-pointer over the stanford trees. Here are my thoughts/hopes/predictions:

Clausen goes 22-30 with around 250 yards and 2 TD tosses, no ints
Aldridge gets the start - 24 rushes for 103 yards
Allen finally gets some - 13 rushes 50 yards, TD
Hughes is limited time again - 5 rushes 20 yards, TD

on D
Lambert gets a pick
Laws gets to the 113 mark to become our DL tackle leader

I think this is a close game throughout with us winning at the end and the turnover being important to the W. Lets say..... Irish win 35-23

5 Seasons later who would have thought that we would complain about our coach going 12-1 and losing the NCG and losing 1 out of our 4 5 star recruits. Seriously we need to look back at 2007 and other awful years to show how far we have come under BK.
