I don't know how many of you we're at the game last night, but those who were will agree with me that this was the best game at the stadium since USC 2005, probably better. This game will be favored for me over USC 2005 as my favorite game of all time at the stadium.

Most of the game was the typical everyone sitting down and not being loud. But then something happened that has not happened for a long time, everyone stood up and was as loud as they could be for every play. This happened a little before ND stopped washington on the goal line for all those times in the 4th throughout overtime.

I was on the 20 yard line opposite of the student section. It was great being right up next to the field when AIr Tate went at it again, and the trick play on the 2pt conversion. I remember saying outloud "Oh, thats weird...." then proceeded to go crazy when it actually worked.

I can't wait for USC if this is what happens when we play Washington.

The rain also helped because all of the old folk left haha

I was there too...for the first time in my life!!! During the 11 hr. drive to campus I was told not to expect too much in the way of fan craziness b/c many of the fans are pretty reserved (aka old).

I decided right then and there that I wasn't gonna hold back one bit. If I scream and yell and jump up and down and scare my g/f in my living room on Saturday afternoons, then I'm sure as hell gonna scream, yell, jump up and down, and scare people in the stadium.

As if to reinforce this sentiment, at the pep rally on Friday night it was brought to my attention that Nick Holt was not too worried about coming into ND Stadium because it's not very loud. Fffff*&$ that!!!! It was on. Especially after James Aldridge and Ned Bolcar got up and talked about fan execution. This would be my first opportunity to do my part to execute for my Irish.

I was sitting in the corner of the stadium diagonally across from the student section (near all of the Husky fans). Sure enough when I get to my seat I discovered that I was sitting behind an elderly woman who scored tickets to the game as a result of a recent heart attack. Luckily for her she couldn't hear all that well b/c I still didn't hold back at all.

To the crowd's credit, even before the fourth quarter madness, there were several false start penalties charged to the Huskies. The fans really executed on Saturday. I couldn't have been any prouder to be a domer!!

I don't know if I'll ever see another game as incredible as that, but I'll never forget the magic I felt as the fourth quarter double goal line stand unfolded right in front of me. To add to the magnitude of the moment, flash bulbs started to pop off from every corner of the stadium as fans sought to capture the moment as proof of their presence. I didn't have a camera with me, but I have no doubt the memory will be with me forever.

Go Irish!!

The couple two games I've been to (Duke in 2007/ SDSU in 2008) the crowd was catatonic.

My best friend and I were yelling and jumping up and down when Bruton popped the ball out to give 'em a chance in 2008. I knocked over my special flask-enhanced beverage, and almost fell on a woman with a baby next to me.

I apoligized(might have been over the limit a little after splitting four pitchers BEFORE tailgaiting) and she smiled coyly and told me "it's OK". We went nuts with a few others around us, and went to that Mexican't (used to be Italian) restaurant by the linebacker to split 5 more pitchers in 2 hours. The bartender and a few other employees kept looking at us like we were insane!

I was at the 2006 game against UCLA when Brady Quinn hit Shark for the game winning TD with 6 seconds left and I was there yesterday too. I gotta say though, the stadium was more rocking yesterday!!!

All I can say is Florida State, 93. I walked away a different person that day.

Damn old :geeza2: ! One of the reasons, I would love to have one night game a year at home but NBC won't do it because it will cut into their primetime shows.. :jerkit:

It's not NBC. The ND Administration is not interested in a night game, too many drunks, too many safety issues as far as they're concerned.

I was there against UCLA in 2006, and it wasn't loud until the end. We sucked ass all game until then, but it erupted at the end. Good times.

Now this just has to happen for the whole game on the 17th!

I was there in the 4th row at the 30 yd line behind the UW bench! It was soooo awesoome, especially the last part of the 4th qtr. and the OT. Now THAT is what a football atmosphere is supposed to be like. Unfreakin' beliveable finish! It was cool watching the UW coaches doing an atomic melt down after the last play of OT!

I was there that game also in the southeast corner of the stadium. That place wasn't extremely loud until that TD. For about 10 minutes after the game (may not have been that long) People were still cheering and going crazy. It was a great moment.

Swash,
Nice topic starter! I have season tickets with my dad above the tunnel and the crowd was amazing. The crowd has been real quiet this year and if the crowd can be as pumped for the USC & other future home games that will give the team momentum.

Oh my gosh that was a sick game, I litterally had no voice, second game of the season for me went to the Mich. St game both were intensely loud at the end. Both times in the Alumni section, I myself am not alumni but a college student elsewhere. THe game was intense and i too thought it was extremely loud for Notre Dame.

Straight up, you guys who have been to South Bend, live there, and have season tickets are some of the luckiest people on earth. I have only one close competitor to you guys, and thats the folks who live in Hawaii and actually have good jobs there. Two paradises joined together by a new athlete in Teo I suppose.

Does anyone consider the possibility a new pipeline to Hawaiians? Do Tongans stay up with Hawaiian news? Those regional species of human make great football players.

I'll never forget seeing this Pacific Islander girl in a bar one time in Ogden, UT. She was perfectly proportioned with an amazing face. As I got closer, she got taller and taller. She must have had three inches on me, and I'm 6'1". Of course drunken stupid must have come from my mouth.

I would have climbed her like a tree.

The mormons of Utah truly have some great recruiting ability with Pacific Islanders. Utah, Utah State, and Provo are loaded up with them.

I was there for my first game ever after driving 14 hours over two days. I have heard the stories of the "quiet crowd" and was surprised by the noise. I am happy to say I contributed my share to the noise level.

For the USC game instead of the Stadium being loud, I think that the whole campus needs to be pumped up, show these 18 recruits what Notre Dame football is all about- tradition and show that the University of Notre Dame is college football.

watching on tv and actually being at the game two entirely different experiences, but i must say that the tv noise was surprisingly loud. maybe at the game the general stirring of the crowd isn't as apparent bc you get used to the noise all around you in a stadium. regardless, my tv was buzzing with crowd noise the entire time and i couldnt help but realize i hadnt heard excitement like that at nd stadium in years, likely 2005 USC like you guys mentioned. i was very proud to hear the roar become deafening on UW's last drive of the 4th. unreal...despite the result
