Would have loved to been in Knoxville when ND eliminated them & won the Supers to advance. Celebrating in a pile up on their field had to be sweet. May be awhile before ND can experience that again as Link is a once in a lifetime HC whereas his replacement will be gone if he doesnt right the ship next season.

I believe former #1 pick Andy Benes toiled at Evansville.

He did. Andy was a year behind me and graduated from my Mom's high school, Evansville Central.

Andy was a very good HS basketball player too.

Watch out... Father Bob is a rabid baseball fan and former team Chaplin.

Haven’t seen it posted here yet: Link has FSU going to the CWS in year 2. He was always going to leave ND for the FSU job when it became available. Just unfortunate it became available so soon. And, agreed that Stifler has one year to get us back to the post-season otherwise it’s time to move on.

Hope won the NAIA title this year. Congrats. Think they were the 8 seed which is impressive.

Surely I’ve shared here before but it never gets old (at least in my head 😉)….I was fortunate to played in 4 NAIA World Series which was in Lewiston, ID. Finished 3rd my Frosh year and 5th my Senior. The year before I got there they were runners up. And our coach every year was a no show when it was time to fly out. Ghosted us lol. True story.

Shout out to U of Indy for making their second D2 appearance in a row, even though it was 2 and bbq twice.

Finally, GO EVANSVILLE!!! Purple Aces got this.

Hope left DIII for NAIA? Very expensive move but I guess they can afford it.

Go Aces!

Yeah, their first NAIA ring. Apparently, they did it the hard way too by digging out of the losers bracket.

The Link ND baseball years were so much fun, too bad it couldn't last a few more years. If Stifler isn't the guy, I wonder who is? He has a local kid Jayce Lee coming in as a freshman, it seems like last season he brought in a some transfers, and I'd like to see him get more high school prospects.

Just looked at the tourney results... The winner was Hope International out of CA.

Going from DIII to NAIA is a strange economic choice as you lose all of the tuition / R&B for the athletes you give scholarships to. My college roommate is the AD at UST in Houston and by beer two he's knee deep into the financials of DIII's superior business model as compared to DII & NAIA.

Good point and I’m happy I don’t have to figure that out. Your buddy is well paid I’m sure, though.

I just know that I didn’t pay a dime for college, never saw class in the spring, and had a fat girl writing my papers. We just played ball, whoop some ass, then got drunk.

That's sounds fun. I shoulda just went to Ball St or Indiana St and done the same.

Except I'd stick with the straight girl on the volleyball team to do the papers. Something to be said for a chick who shows up after practice in knee pads ready to get to work.

Funny you mention, I was verbally committed to play for Malone until the Michigan rumors happened. Sure enough, that bible pusher took the scUM job. Insert Tech…who was just coming off their first of 6 in a row National Title runs.

And that’s a great point. Tech might have some of the fugliest girls you’ll ever see. That’s what IPusyyFW is for.

Good thing about FW is there is a strip club on every corner. I’d not recommend raising a daughter in FW.

You came this close to becoming a drunk architect with a 2.0 GPA.

Related info: My chick's dad played for Ball St and a good friend of 40 years is scUM's current skipper. And yes, I tried to talk him out of it.

Is that what comes out of BSU? I’ve often asked…now I know. 🤷‍♂️ Lol.

Willie Weiss’ coach?

He left for Clemson with Bakich then Smitty took over.
Speaking of Bakich & Clemson they are in extra innings trying to avoid being eliminated by UF. Helluva comeback for Clemson. Their CF hit a game tying 3-run bomb and then made an over the shoulder catch to allow them to go to 11th inning.

"over the shoulder" doesn't begin to describe the play this kid made.

Was hoping Clemson would’ve pulled it out. They finally hit a go ahead bomb but lost it in the bottom half

Stiffler isn’t the guy. Two years ago we were in the CWS. We have regressed so far in his two years that we now aren’t even competitive in conference. We finished in last place in the ACC with a 9-21 conference record and didn’t make the ACC tournament. We beat the likes of Rice, Redford, Tennessee Tech, and Toledo but regularly got swept by conference opponents. Just terrible.

I don’t see him righting the ship. We finished last in the ACC with a 9-21 conference record. No excuse to regress that much in two years. We weren’t really even competitive in the ACC. Got swept by Florida State, Clemson, Virginia Tech, NC State, North Carolina, and Louisville—six conference opponents.
