I hope ND can keep Jarrett for at least 5 more years, Swarbrick needs to give Jarrett full control of the baseball program. If Jarrett wants it, make it happen.

Good article from Eric Hansen on the challenge to keep Jarret. Great insight from former ND HC Paul Manieri:

We’re always going to be in a tough spot with weather and the effects that’s going to have on scheduling and recruiting. What’s disappointing to me (and what’s going to make it tough to keep Link around) is the facilities/resources and the lack of fan/student attendance. It’s one of the worst parks in the ACC and we are way overdue for a legit video board. I don’t have the solutions on how to increase attendance but for how good the team has been the last two years, it’s disappointing that we don’t seem to draw much of a crowd. I don’t know the logistics of being able to do this, but even doing like 1-2 games a year (Saturday night games maybe?) at the South Bend Cubs park I think would help drive some excitement. It just sucks that we seem to have a top tier coach and I don’t see any way he stays for more than a couple more years tops without serious changes.

ncaa tournament game vs texas tech has been in delay for several hrs due to storms in Georigia after our irish took a 2-0 lead bottom 1st
So frustrating when you consider the weather was picture perfect in South Bend yesterday.

Great win.

ND pitching had 19 Ks…but their offense also struck out 15 times.

Agreed. The Hansen article had some good ideas like more double headers and trying to pick up smaller schools to fill in canceled games at last minute. The committee was pretty forthcoming when they said ND # of canceled games hurt their case. Manieri sees it playing out like when he was there & doesn’t want ND to make same mistake twice. I never realized Manieri turned down so many opportunities.

Link's situation seems pretty straightforward to me. He'll interview with Clemson and bring the offer to Jack with a summary of what he needs to stay. We'll have to match their salary offer, of course, but Link should also give Jack the facility upgrades needed for him to stay.

That puts the ball in Jack's court. The money is always there, its just a matter of priorities. No idea which way Jack will go.

I remember when Brey wanted upgrades Jack made Brey handle the fund raising, which went slowly. If Jack does that this time we can kiss Link good bye. But Link is much better at his job than Brey is; Brey has never been a top ten coach nationally and Link might be in the top 1-3 of guys who could actually be movable.

We'll soon see how much Jack values baseball.

ACCN is showing NCAA Regional action in the 4-7 time slot, but it doesn't say which game.

Scratch that, now showing the ACC Football Championship from December!

ESPN + is the pay per view channel...pisser...I'm already paying for ESPN and the ACCN

game has been moved back to a 6:20 pm start instead of the 5:15 pm start and again on espn+ and not on the regular espn channels or accn which means paying to watch

ACC only went 5-4 yesterday. They are 11-6 overall. All 9 teams are still alive but 6 of the nine are in elimination games this afternoon. ND and Vtech are the only ACC teams 2-0. (Miami is 1-0 as they are a day behind in Coral Gables due to weather.)

All 27 P5 teams that gualified are still in, but 16 have one loss

So far we are really showing we were underseeded and deserving of a top 15 ranking.

Great article by Hansen, like he wrote about I hope ND doesn't make the same mistake twice. Mainieri was even quote that he had no intention of leaving there.

I know ND is a football school, but open up your check book and make baseball a priority. I only follow ND baseball when they are good. Are there any other college baseball stadiums in the Midwest that have retractable roofs so they can play games at home when the weather is bad?
If Swarbrick cannot see from Link's time here how he has turned baseball around that is on him.

Whatever Link wants to make improvements the baseball program give it to him.

i would love to see a nice indoor stadium built but you are probably looking at a ton of money and getting that won't be easy if i had to guess. whatever the AD does for coach Link it better be big and just not some small paint job crap in it comes to upgrades

there are MLB teams that cannot afford a retractable roof stadium. Ain't happening. Video board, nice lockers and and covered boxes are what we can hope for.

Could you imagine, though? That would be incredible.

Texas Tech is the Irish opponent tonight, 3-1 over G Southern. So no home field advantage to worry about.

Guys, I’ve been thinking about our baseball facility situation. Suffice it to say, any successful coach at ND that goes to the AD regarding necessary facility upgrades in order to compete with upper tier programs would absolutely get whatever they’re asking for. There is no way we would ever put a coach in a spot where they felt like they had to walk and take a job at a different, much more pedestrian program in order to get a chance at upgraded facilities. This would never happen.

They upgraded the players' area, coaches area, etc., several years ago, as I understand it. The major issues that remain (from what I can tell as a fan) are: (1) the visiting teams' area (visiting players have to use port-o-potties during the game); and (2) the fan sections of the stadium. They should add seats (or at least benches) throughout the main part of the stadium and do some cosmetic improvements, too. Maybe they could expand seating between the main sections and the bleachers? I don't think it would be that expensive. If we keep getting under-seeded because of facilities, why would a top coach stay?

Didn't Link sign an extension before this season started? Part of me thinks he would honor that extension before bolting as being discussed.

This is simple- look what Link has done during his tenure at ND and if Link is wanting/suggesting upgrades ND needs to make it somehow, someway happen.
